Ashwin's economy after playing for so long is under 7 which is impressive. Doesn't get his due. For comparison, Chahal gets wickets but gives 8 runs per over to nullify it.

Check the stats for spinners. You will hardly find a conventional off spinner in the list. Neither Theekshana nor Mujeebur or conventional offies.  Off spinners are the easiest to target as it is more often in the arc for righties. He did create some chances.

That's why they always know little bit of batting.

He was always a good batsman.  Played some clutch test knocks. Just there was a prolonged slump until the match saving effort in Australia.  Now in the recent IPL has found this new stance lol

Finally Ashwin used his overthinking to guess Nawaz going to dart it on legs. He got nerves of steel to leave it alone. Wonder any other batter would have had this presence mind given the circumstances.

 

Between just to think , if it was chalal instead of Ashwin yesterday we know what would have been the result -  1run loss

I am guessing he might have tricked Nawaz to go for the legs acting he want to go over the covers and taking stance outside leg stump lol. Also he would have seen the previous ball to DK.

 

We might hear the story probably in his YouTube channel after the WC.

Always helps being in touch with Gully cricket. Whole range of trickeries can be found there. Some of our players have too much ego that they won't take part in lower level. Ashwin played for Dindigul Dragons which he never needed to do.

We will understand his true value only when he retires.

He bowled well and if not for the spider cam, he would have had great figures, plus there was a edge of his bowling that went to the boundary, smart cricketer but we badly need a quality wrist spinner and proper spin all rounder, maybe shahbaz is the answer.

He's gem of a person 

No grudges or even bad feelings even for his fiercest of rivals

Never ever one can forget how he took down the whole chucking gang by pointing at full sleeves

India lost big time for not having him as leader atleast in one of the formats
