Historically there have been many players who have been neglected despite being legendary in domestics. Its not like we have no options in left arm pace bowling. Unadkat definitely has some connections.

Unadkat will more likely be the LAF net bowler similar to how they selected Lukman Meriwala or he is holding the place for someone else so that there is no more competition for that player. Do not think there could be any other rational of selecting him.

It is not that hard to put up numbers in domestic cricket.  People have to physically go to stadium and see what kind of bowler he is.

There is also regional quota. Sometimes pressure is on selectors to select a player from particular zone or state due to which they have to pick such nonsense picks.
