Why are Indians desperate for 'Bazball' to fail?

I think even with Rohit and Rahul would have made merry against against Anderson and England attack in Indian conditions. Other than Wood they don't have bowlers for sub-continent conditions. Pakistani batting and bowling has been just awful.

Rohit did pretty well in our last home series against England against Anderson & Archer. Infact he did well in england too in last series.

India would thump Bazball in India for sure. If India fails in India against England then they have lot of issues wit their whole setup.

Somebody has to keep the motivation going.  In test matches leadership is very crucial.

I actuallly like Bazball but i want  England to fail in life, still waiting for a mini ice age to cover their country in ice.

Global warming won't help

Blind slogging isn't test cricket. Slogs, reverse sweep etc isn't good to watch. I will rather have batsmen doing front foot defense and bowler beating the edge whole day rather than this ugly stuff from England. They are making test cricket an extended LOI game. 1-2 batsmen playing like that is okay like Pant for India but when whole batting unit starts doing that then it becomes plain ugly.

It's ugly cricket. That's why. Anything England touches turns ugly. Very few exceptions to that.

Also I don't want it to fail so much as predicting that it WILL fail at a crucial juncture.

The best template to play Test cricket continues to be the Aussie way.

Problem is most teams don't have the quality and the depth in terms of personnel .

And I can't really fault McCullum either. He took sides that were descending into utter mediocrity (NZ in 2013 ,ENG 2022) and got them to play a brand of fearless cricket that got them results that were better than expected.

But Baz didn't win anything significant as captain . His team got wrecked by the Aussies .

A more tempered approach under Williamson got them much better results.

Indians don't want it to fail. We're just a skeptical bunch. Test cricket is extremely nuanced and there is more than one way to skin a cat. It will be interesting to see England's approach when they tour Australia/India where the conditions and opposition are far more challenging than the ones they're facing currently.

it is merely an inferiority complex. Bazball is not new, Bazball won't work everywhere, etc... all these are true. But, there is still honor in playing fearlessly and seeking to entertain and going for wins, instead of useless stat-padding and cowering. as Teddy roosevelt said, one must appreciate the man in the arena, the one who keeps trying and giving their whole effort

There is a certain section in our fanbase, whose collective backside is still sore from the t20 WC spanking, that want it to fail.

I agree with you. Their approach is entertaining and true to the temperament of modern day English batsmen. They don't produce many tuk tuk players anymore and so have had to adopt this approach.

Its more like, intially you're skeptical about their approach..You write openly about your skepticism..But you're proved wrong...Your ego is trying to reinforce your original action, you want them to fail so that you were right in the first place..

Bazball is NOT new. Don't even know why it should be called that.

Sehwag and many other have played Test Cricket in the past with same aggression...

Also I would like to see England try their aggressive approach against Aussies in Australian pitches and against India in Indian pitches...they will fail miserably.

The whole team playing in that manner is different to one or two aggressive players that have always existed

Aussies always played fast pace  cricket and played to win but they were able to overcome tough spells and phases with solid technique. It remains to be seen if England batsmen have that ability to do the same against quality bowlers on helpful wickets.

Sydney test  is prime example of why sometimes even draw is most exciting  part of test cricket. Drawing a test match where your team has no chance to win is still one of greatest allures of test cricket.

Gambhir stonewalling NZ  is still considered one of the greatest Indian rescue acts in tests.

while this is a very poor Pak team, the same was true for Pak teams of 50s and 60s (barring a few quality players). I don't believe they were getting thrashed that way. Bazball has something going for it - at the least, it makes test cricket more entertaining

England are playing Bazball. India prefers playing Boreball.

When entire team buys into this ideology they collectively work towards that. It is a case of entire team coming at you. India had this ideology of 4 pacers to bully the opposition especially when Ishant was around. They collectively worked together. We saw the results. If entire team work together you can win with Bazball,  Jambat anything.  In india's case just half the team working together was enough

ishant, bumrah, shami, and (peak) boobi/umesh - quite the quartet with versatile skills among them.
