SandeepMotta Posted December 25, 2022 Posted December 25, 2022 The Indian team has been reduced to Indian coterie with non deserving players playing despite continuous failures and the pathetic TM encouraging the likes ok KL while players like Kuldeep are dropped even after match winning performances. sandeep Posted December 25, 2022 Posted December 25, 2022 Good to see more and more folks waking up to this - if anything its been a cabal since 2017 and I was tired of being the only one moaning about Kuptaan Wrogn and his shenanigans with team "building". In reality, the cabal is on its last legs and the end is nigh, only problem is that its coming far too late to change India's ODI WC fate. SrinjayDutta, Chakdephatte, SRT100 and 1 other 1 3

sandeep Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 1 hour ago, goose said: Indian cricket has become like Bollywood. There is simply too much money to be made for incumbents to make way Its about maintaining and extending Marketing monopolies, or Oligopolies - It was simply not in the interests of Virat inc, that any 'young' batsman be allowed to rise to white ball batting prominence. Hence from 2016 onwards, the only batsmen that got a shot in ODI cricket - the place where gaudy stats can be achieved at a younger age with the consistency that sets you on the road to "stardom" in India - the only players who were allowed a shot were relegated to #6 or lower in the order, where they have the thankless jobs of throwing their bats around, and almost guaranteed to have second tier stats. And not only that - only "older" players like Kedar Jadhav, Ambati Rayudu, Dinesh Karthik etc were given chances in the name of experience and 'deserves a chance'. Why? Because marketing companies have a tendency to go after the younger guys early in their career - so players like Gill, Shaw, Iyer, Samson, etc were never given a fair shot. Even KL Rahul was made to wait outside the "regular" ODI XI in the absolute peak prime of his form for multiple years, inspite of being a mainstay of the test XI. Rishabh Pant should have been given a QdK style white ball role in the top order early on - but never was. Bunty Sajdeh recognized how Virat "made it big" early in his career with a string of ODI innings, and ensured that the ladder was rolled up after him, for as long as possible. The 2 years leading up to the ODI WC is when these batsmen should have been given 15-20 ODI games batting in the top 4 so that they build a body of work, work out their individual batting method in the format, and get better at handling pressure situations. But that did not happen, and this selfishness bit the Indian team in the semi-final. I have been calling it out since 2017 that our top order is batting 2012 style in ODIs and needed top order reshuffling to dislodge the triumvirate of Rohit, Dhawan and Kohli. I started a thread advocating Virat at #4 so that someone like Pant or KLPD could be accommodated in the top order, and tasked with batting selflessly instead of the "build platform" selfishness that Indian ODI batting displayed in 2015 to 2020, while England were strengthening their template of white ball batting. But no, I got insults from the likes of @putrevus the Kohli Bhakt, and many others. Now when its 4-5 years too late already, people are starting to wake up. Banjo India had its best ever bowling attack in ODI cricket and we wasted a golden chance to win the ODI WC in 2019. It still infuriates me how the "incumbents" ran the team like a fiefdom at the expense of the team. And there was pretty much zero accountability for them - because somehow "making it to the semi-final" in a 4 horse race is somehow good enough. nevada, rollingstoned and Vijy 1 1 1

Yes 100% agree, I really as an "outsider" didnt understand this for a long while, now its been crystal clear that this is the case. I mean an old consistently injured Rohit should not be captain in any format and yet he will be. The BCCI and TM justify their selections relying on stats. Is it time we stopped looking at stats outside a year, lets only look at stats over the last 12months. Im tired of some fanboys posting stats of Dhawan in WC tournaments or how Kohli's average is still near 50 in Test Cricket, its meaningless and irrelevant. What matter is the stats over the last 12 months. Vijy, nevada, raki05 and 1 other 4

As far as LOIs are concerned, overall stats won't do as there are lots of low profile games going on these days and some players excel there and falter in big games. Who are the guys who are performing in the more relevant games in the last 2 years, would give us a better picture ( as just 1 year may not have that many relevant games ) raki05, singhvivek141, Vijy and 2 others 2 3

Youre so right, the mindset of looking at averages and current performance in Indian Cricket needs to be reassessed. As an example Kohli career averages 49 runs. His average however over the past two years is just 27 runs. We all know this, this is no surprise to anyone but the BCCI and TM. express bowling 1

"A" teams should not be for washed-out seniors collecting their pensions. to offer a specific example in batting, one can try patidar, rinku, sarfaraz (in-form players) vs dhull, jasiwal, and maybe 1-2 youngsters. there should be no place for likes of rahane, chepu, etc express bowling, SRT100 and raki05 1 2
