Modern day great, one of the key reasons behind our rise to (and long stay at) number 1 ranking, home dominance, series wins in Australia. May not have as many 100s/runs as Kohli but his impact and clutchness more than makes up for it. IMO the best test batter from India post 2010. My favorite innings of his is that 90 odd in 2017 Bengaluru, we were so close to going down 0-2 but that partnership between Che and Jinx was spectacular, especially the way they handled peak Lyon. One of the most heart-stopping passages of play I have seen in this sport.. Again not a 100, but consider the match situation, bowling attack, momentum, stakes, pressure that 90 was worth a lot more. Till circa 2018 he was so so good against spin, hope to see that magic once more this series. Also the 3rd test match in SL against SL-2015 where series was 1-1 and he was dropped for Rohit in first 2 tests. Came back, carried the bat in 1st innings and won test match and series for India... zen Posted February 15, 2023 Author Posted February 15, 2023 Count’s batting, like a world heritage site, takes test cricket fans down the memory lane of the classic batting era. BCCI should announce him as a heritage cricketer for being the last of the traditional test batsman, and for his outstanding contribution to cricketing culture!

SRT dropped Ashwell prince in the second test of SA 2006/07 series either last session day 1 or first session day 2, he went on to make a ton & we lost that game! Similarly we were in a relatively good position against SA in last test of the series, we lost that game IIRC even with the rain in about 2 or slightly less than 2 sessions with poor bowling & of course a second innings (batting) collapse! Had SRT taken that catch of Prince we'd probably have won the second test & series as well - that's why I firmly believe South Asians Sindhu ghati descendants are chokers of the highest order especially in sports Edited February 16, 2023 by R!TTER
