Good , but not good enough for our stupid weak bowling

Here we are mainly concerned with Sir Don’s exciting performances with bat, ball, or both … Who cares if Ind trundlers get smashed (no one is forcing Ind to play such bowlers)!

40 runs and 3 wickets v PAK at MCG (T20WC22) ... a two dimensional performance that helped India craft a well fought win:

If you look at Pakistan performance, it lost the game due to one key element - Nawaz, the 5th bowler. Reflect back to when Pakistan was batting. India's Nawaz, Axar, was taken for 21 runs in an over, the other spinner Ashwin was hardly threatening. What if India had to complete Axar's overs? Luckily, India had SDP who triggered a collapse to pick up 3 wkts.

At 31/4, India was in a dire situation. The fightback started with Sir Don's belief that India could win the game. He took on the spinners, making Pak avoid its 5th bowler. When he realized that Pakistan held back Nawaz, he planned (with not much batting to come after him apart from DK) to take on Nawaz at the end. When he saw that Kohli was in the zone, he took the back seat to rotate the strike (and cutting down risk). Because of the importance of the partnership, he even cut down on a few risky singles, while constantly encouraging Kohli (acknowledged by Kohli too) and believing that India could win. His personal gamble of taking on Nawaz did not materialize as in trying to hit too hard, he ended up skying (no pun intended) the ball, but for the team, it worked perfectly.

The self belief, the ability to read the game, game sense to take a back seat when required, encouraging the team mates to not give up, etc. has added many more intangible dimensions to his game.

What a cricketer!

India's stand-in T20I captain said he was happy to use his experience and take up more responsibility even if it means having to keep his own six-hitting skills under the wraps.

When did this guy ever had any six hitting skills

In the series-deciding clash against New Zealand in Ahmedabad on Wednesday (February 1), Pandya struck at a strike-rate of 176.46 but a good portion of his 17-ball knock involved turning over the strike to Shubman Gill.

How the hell is he captain of new look India, is this what we want from new Indian t20 team?
