Why are there no close matches this World Cup?

The art of building an innings still is so important in odis.SL today was playing today's match as extended t20.

England is again another example, they never showed any inclination to do hard yards. They are so inclined to play shots every ball.

Glad to see these FTBs are getting exposed.

You can't expect T20 like close matches in ODI format.

There are passage of plays where a bowler is in good spell like Madhushanka today, batters trying to survive him, spinners trying to choke good batters like Jaddu Kuldeep. Quality batsmen dominating

You need to enjoy those like you enjoy test matches.

1. ODI is Different from T20. More time for players to get their eye in, quality players are difficult to handle when they have are settled.

2. In T20 batters try to take advantage of the PP, at a time when the ball is doing a lot. In ODI teams can see off the new ball & attack latter.

3. 2nd tier teams don't have the batters or bowlers who can make impact thought the 50 overs. Might be harsh but the same Nawaz & Shadabh combo looked much more deadly in T20, but they seem pedestrian in ODI.

Harsha's point is to think about.  Peole forgot how to build a  ODI innings anymore.

It's not like ODIs are played only in WC. Everyone is used to the format

The pitches haven't been flat and that exposed FTBs including England.

WC has barely started.  One upset already happened.  We are "very close" to witness another one.

I wasn't talking about upset. I was talking about a close game. Nail biter. We've not had that at all yet
