Right. He was bowled to the ground in the 90s and if their was anything that srinath actually lacked it was the fast bowler aggression even though he was rapid.

Not every person is aggressive or outspoken. Shami don't speak much, neither does Bumrah...but they are feared by the opposition. In comparison Siraj is more verbal, but I don't think he has that fear factor which the former 2 carries.

 

Srinath struggled because his partners were not good enough, Prasad was just decent, so was Prabhakar..both were as good as Bhuvi. Srinath was the only one who was more than decent...maybe at Shami's level, but he had mediocre support.

Srinath was decent at his best,, why is this need to prove that he was great.

 

He  hit Pringle and couple of others in face and he bowled fast in some spells .Does it make him great.At no point in his career he was great.

Just keep the "pace isn't important" coaches away from him. 

once he gets into nat'l team, only those trundler-lover coaches exist.

worry would be that even if sir aggy (agarkar) selects him, the mediocre duo of dravidiot (dravid) and mamba (mhambrey) may not actually give him game time.

You should live through the experience before you read scorecards and statsguru. He was the first real pace bowler of India in international stds, ATG in pace for India  given the real few. Played second fiddle till 94, peaked in 96/97 and then dragged along with injuries till 2003. He had to operate mostly singly, maybe with another good bowler he could have had the stats worthy of other greats for scorecard readers. He achieved less than Zaheer Khan but was a more natural pace bowler like Mayank is now at the same age. The point is about similarities between Mayank and him. Lean, skinny and natural.

I agree with your overall sentiment strongly.

 

However, a couple of points  Mayank isn't skinny at all. He is lean but looks strong.

 

And Zaheer did not achieve more than Srinath in tests. Srinath had an average of 30.x while Zaheer averaged 32.9.

 

Another aspect regarding Srinath is that Indian captains of that era did not know how to set fields for a real quick with bounce. Srinath brought the ball in with bounce. Lots of catches lobbed up at short leg but no fielders were kept there. If only this was done Srinath might have averaged 28. And slips were not kept deep enough for his super carry.

People forget one thing about Holding - he was an early contender for Jamaican nationals for 400m. Anyone who knows anything of T&F should know what that means. And this is why Holding had such an easy action, relatively injury-free career and above all, stamina to bowl 93-95mph all day for 20 overs in a day. For this chap to be a Holding, he has to demonstrate he can bowl 15-20 overs a day and not drop below 90mph- a nearly impossible ask with today's level of fitness. 

He is a good find, but lets wait and see if he is a Shoaib Akhtar ( all pace, zero stamina) or a Holding ( Pace and stamina).

That action only allowed him to get the ball to cut back in. 

 

If he had a release that was not coming from 11 o clock and more from 1 o clock and closer to the stumps , he would have been a better Test bowler.
