New guy Posted May 8, 2024 Posted May 8, 2024 Impressive honesty from a shellshocked LSG captain, KL Rahul: "I'm lost for words. We've watched that batting on TV but that was unreal. Everything was hitting the middle of the bat, kudos to their skill, they've worked very hard on their six-hitting. They didn't give a chance to see what the wicket was playing like, it didn't change much, but that mindset and freedom to tee off from ball one... the only way to stop them was wickets in the powerplay and we didn't do that. But our management and fans still dont understand. They still believe we need anchors in T20, they still believe US pitches will suddenly be good for stat padders to win. Not a single big hitter in our team except maybe SKY. tweaker, zen, Number and 2 others 5
rkt.india Posted May 8, 2024 Posted May 8, 2024 In our club, 3-4 batsmen will be playing Uttarakhand premier league next month and they come at the open nets and just practice hitting sixes. This is the game these days. cowboysfan, zen, Vijy and 3 others 6
Gollum Posted May 8, 2024 Posted May 8, 2024 Guys like Viru, Yuvi, young Dhoni were ahead of their time, trendsetters. What a great fall for us. Those who can play like this are kept out or forced to match the tortoise pace of seniors. Tillu, Ultimate_Game, Real McCoy and 2 others 5
Real McCoy Posted May 8, 2024 Posted May 8, 2024 Ayush badoni scored 55 in 30 balls even without a six. No use playing defenisive cricket in t20s. start attacking from ball one. Even its done in ODIs and tests with bazball. Ultimate_Game 1

Had great depth too. All we needed was a bowler like Bumrah back then. Gollum, express bowling, Tillu and 1 other 4
Nikhil_cric Posted May 8, 2024 Posted May 8, 2024 Back then, we also used to bat until #7 and get overs from our batters. Deep batting lineups encourage aggressive batting. You can't consistently select sides that only bat until #5 and then expect them to bat that freely. It doesn't work . JaFanatic, Ultimate_Game, Lord and 3 others 1 5

As if our stat padders like Kohli will stop chasing 50s and averages just because he has more batsmen in the lineup. He didn't stop his stat padding innings even when he had players like ABD coming after him and RCB had a long batting lineup. Edited May 8, 2024 by New guy Tillu and JaFanatic 2
Ultimate_Game Posted May 8, 2024 Posted May 8, 2024 KL's mindset was changed today by LSG's owner Wonder what Indian selectors and team management think when they see SRH openers bat. Would like to hear the reason they came up with for not selecting Abhishek. This WT 20 would've been perfect for Abhishek to make his mark - he's in form and has perfect mindset to go after the bowling. Him and Jaiswal could've been our wildcard and now we're left with over the hill Rohit at the top and King of consolidation at 3 JaFanatic, Texan and Tillu 1 2

We only got our T20 mindset right once, the first one, when we tossed away all the experienced players of those days, got a new captain and a young team and won the cup. After that, we have messed up every single time in trying to overrate value of "experience" in T20s. In T20s, current form, bold ambition and spur of the moment thinking is more critical to success than having years of experience playing the sport. New guy, Tillu and Ultimate_Game 3

Imagine having Gayle and ABD in the same team. Had they been used properly, they would have been doing what SRH top order is doing this season. Imagine how negatively Kohli's contributions have impacted the team performance that even with such a star-studded lineup, they could not win a single trophy.

And the thing is we have young players who're actually perfect for this format! And yet we go with experience even though it was the youngsters who brought us our finest moment in our cricketing history - beating Aus in Aus in 2020-21. That was all done without seniors but somehowfor T20 we need "experience" JaFanatic 1
