rangeelaraja Posted June 30, 2024 Posted June 30, 2024 I am not even going to talk about semi final losses after dominating the entire 2015 and 2019 World Cup. India has lost 7 ICC tournament finals in the last 2 decades. Thats a staggering number. Breakdown: World Cup: 2 misses Lost final to Aus both in 2003 and 2023 ( after crushing wins against all comers. ICC Test Championship: 2 misses Lost final in 2021 to NZ after topping the ratings table and beating Aus in Aus Lost final in 2023 to Aus after topping the ratings table in beating all the big teams comprehensively. ICC Champions trophy: 2 misses Lost final to NZ in 2000 after dominating the entire tournament Lost final to Pak in 2017 after dominating the entire tournament T20 World Cup: 1 miss Lost final in 2014 to Sril anka after dominating the entire tournament I don't think any other team has suffered like this after playing so well. We would have been the greatest cricketing nation in the world had we won even 5 of those 7 that we lost. Somehow while this win is sinking I feel each win has come too late and we have lost too many. SandeepMotta 1

Popular Post Mariyam Posted June 30, 2024 Popular Post Posted June 30, 2024 (edited) @rangeelaraja Savour our win. Unbeaten through the tournament. Lone Wolf Posted June 30, 2024 Posted June 30, 2024 Enjoy the victory bro.. It was a mental barrier. We needed that. Indian Team needed that. WTC final in Lords is the ultimate prize. Gollum, rangeelaraja, Frustrated and 1 other 2 2
Popular Post Gambit Posted June 30, 2024 Popular Post Posted June 30, 2024 Terrible thread. We have won 4 WCs tied with Windies and behind Australia's 7. That is tremendous. Ultimate_Game, bossbhai2, SandeepMotta and 9 others 4 8
rollingstoned Posted June 30, 2024 Posted June 30, 2024 No divine right to win it all. Gotta earn it. nitinbwj, Stan AF, Gollum and 1 other 1 1 2
Frustrated Posted June 30, 2024 Posted June 30, 2024 Here is the summary of Team India's performance in last 2 ICC tournaments in White Ball Cricket. 2023 ODI WC: Played 10 Won 9. 2024 WT20: Played 8 Won 8. Total Wins: 17 out of 18 Matches. This is insane. Only the GOAT aussies team (1999 to 2007) comes close. Ultimate_Game, nitinbwj, Gollum and 1 other 2 2
deathmonger Posted June 30, 2024 Posted June 30, 2024 Doesn't matter. Eventually a time will come when India will win everything. There is no way this won't happen. The scale is too big. India is still a poor country remember but growing fast. Might be 2040s, 2050s but will happen. The last decade was growing pains. Will win a lot more this decade. I don't care about your opinion. Don't twist the facts. @Gambit i don't conflate T20 WC with the quadrennial WC and bundle it as " WC ". West Indies has been one of the poorest "major" cricket teams over the last 15 years. Yet West Indies have won 2 "WCs" by your twisted count over the last 15 years. We have lost out many big ICC events in the final hurdle. You have to be naive and intellectually dishonest to compare the 50 over WC with T20. One sport nation being content with 2/3 place with a twisted count despite having overwhelming resources and then calling it "tremendous" Loser mentality to say the least. Not a world beating mentality for sure. Edited June 30, 2024 by rangeelaraja SandeepMotta 1

Frustrated Posted June 30, 2024 Posted June 30, 2024 Can someone pls share the pics or videos of Indian dressing room celebrations post victory? (I m sure none of our players would ever put their feet on the Trophy unlike what Mitchel Marsh did. Just saying) Kron 1
AuxiliA Posted June 30, 2024 Posted June 30, 2024 Historically we have made it to the same number of ICC finals that Australia have - 13! That's a pretty great achievement. Offcourse Australia being clutch won 10/13, whereas India won 'just' 6/13. Losing two b2b WTC finals in England in which we were ill prepared (our own fault) spoiled our win ratio. Atleast we should have defeated NZ. Also, shouldn't have lost the CT17 F considering we were significantly better than Pak and had won the toss in the final. WC23 could have been won too. But these 3 'should have won' final losses( CT17, WTC21, WC23) are offset by our 3 'lucky' Final victories in 1983, 2013CT and 2024. So in the end it's all fair. Norman, Gollum and rangeelaraja 1 2
MediumPacer Posted June 30, 2024 Posted June 30, 2024 We weren't good enough on those occasion. On a couple of occasions we were unlucky, like 2019 when the weather went against us ,but otherwise we got the results we deserved.

Yes, I have high but fair benchmarks for my team as a fan, nothing wrong with that given our size and talent. Funny how you validate your intellectual dishonesty by responding with rubbish when exposed conflating T20 WCs that happen every other year with the far more prestigious 50 over WC. If you call being ambitious and never content ...as " wallowing in a pit of self flagellation and misery " ...... you must have 3rd rate standards for yourself too. WIsh that "spring in your step " takes you successfully from one pothole to another. Edited June 30, 2024 by rangeelaraja
Norman Posted June 30, 2024 Posted June 30, 2024 Man wtf is up with these negative threads even after winning a damn ICC titles after 11 years and a world cup after 13. Only Indian fans are capable of such chewtiyapa. Vilander, Ultimate_Game, Frustrated and 2 others 3 1 1
Frustrated Posted June 30, 2024 Posted June 30, 2024 2002 CT Final was a No Result due to rain. Ind-SL were declared joint winners. We were chasing 244 vs SL, with Ganguly Sehwag Yuvi and others in prime form. I m pretty sure we could hv comfortably chased it down. Till date, it really hurts me as we were declared joint winner. nitinbwj 1

Exactly - its the conversion that matters. Just like in tennis - it does not matter how many grand slam finals you reach. We have been overwhelming strong in many tournaments only to have bad moments on the BIG DAYs. It is all in the mind on the big day. If I were BCCI, I would hire a top American sports psychologist on a retainer - these things make a huge difference. Kron 1
