Root just scored his first 100 in Australia. Sachin scored his first 100 at 19-20. Even in his last tour at nearly 40 he was still scoring 50s for fun and was considered a poor series. These days 2 50s in Australia and we will make the player a ATG.

Performance in Australia isn't the sole criterion for anything.

Everybody has a bogey team. For Sachin's high standards, he didn't do well in tests against Pakistan, at a time when they were quite strong. Lara struggled against India, Ponting in India, Smith in RSA, Kane mama in India/RSA etc.

Bradman is perhaps the only batsman with a flawless record. People say he was vulnerable on wet wickets but still statistically the best with 60+ average, just that he didn't average 99.94 there. So, only for his own high standards, he was a failure.

For England Ashes performance is highest bar.

For most others bogey teams aren’t ones where they played a lot and failed regularly.

Smith averages 40 in SA that's a good career avg for some lol

Australia is the best cricket team on an average over the last 3-4 decades. So performance in Australia is definitely a big deal.

Just like India has been a top 2 side over the last 2 decades on an average and boderline unbeatable at home for nearly 4-5 decades , so even for lot of SENA cricketers, their performance in India is a big deal.

Root has a very good record in home Ashes, was MOTS in 2015. Only away Ashes is underwhelming.

Australia has generally produced good batting tracks since 2000s and it's almost impossible for any top batsmen to fail there for such long time.

Nah. He isn't out of form. It will be Stokes first. Then the likes of Crawley and Pope might be addressed, Root is the safest man.

Nope..  I meant root might lose the motivation

Sachin is the most decorated ODI batsman while also being a phenomenal Test batsman. Root doesn't even feature in the top 20 ODI batsman ever.

For top players like him it's easy being a format specific batsman because the bad habits from other formats doesn't creep into his game as he mostly plays only Tests.

For GOAT discussions you need to play all formats equally well. Root, even if he crosses Sachin's total run tally in Tests will never be a better batsman than Sachin for me.

As an all format batsman I will put even Virat ahead of Root.

Root ka hauaa pakistaniyon ke saath saath saath kuch Indians bhi bananey lagey the. As if we need to do any stats analysis by these experts to find out who is great. Most of us have already seen Sachin’s career as well as softie root’s career whose  and his country sole ambition since first day was to break Sachin’s record. As someone said Even kohli with 47 avg is much better cricketer than root. People who hyped root will also hype Sangakar and Yunus khan as better player than Sachin after few years, typical librandu trait who always tried to rewrite the history as per their whim.

Root will Score most runs if he plays for 180 plus tests.

His inability to score more than one test 100  will be held against him by Sachin’s supporters. Those guys forget Sachin also scored just single 100 in Pakistan that too weakest Pakistani bowling attack on flattest Multan pitch .

Root at least has faced best Australian bowling attack till this series.

As far as Odis Kohli is head and shoulders above Sachin, it is not even close.

Nothing new. These shameless *ers even adopted Inzi during 2000s to bring sachin down

Poms are crazy about longevity records. Anderson broke McGrath's record of most test wickets by a pacer and majority of them argue that Cloudy>>>McGrath. In terms of shamelessness, Poms are second only to Pooks.
