zen Posted November 3, 2024 Posted November 3, 2024 (edited) These players are mostly about performances in home “tailored” conditions (Though, Kohli has stood up in a few series in SENA). No more Indian test ATG and fan nonsense (unless something changes in near future). A fan ban on them Edited November 3, 2024 by zen Stutter and New guy 2
NameGoesHere Posted November 3, 2024 Posted November 3, 2024 (edited) Forget ATG team, can we first please get them out of current team??? Edited November 3, 2024 by NameGoesHere express bowling, Forever Indian, diga and 3 others 6
Majestic Posted November 3, 2024 Posted November 3, 2024 Rohit and Ashwin especially are outright poor overseas. Ashwin averages 42 in Australia lol but his fans say that he has won two test series in Australia lmao express bowling 1
saransh Posted November 3, 2024 Posted November 3, 2024 Rohit was never in any AT test XI to begin with. Kohli has regressed so much that he is not even a test great anymore. Just a above average career with few remarkable scores. Will have one of Ash or Jaddu in the AT 11 along with kumble express bowling 1
ash Posted November 3, 2024 Posted November 3, 2024 When was Rohit even in the all time conversation in tests?? With the way he is going, he may even end up below Vijay and Gambir in the openers list.. Lord 1

goose Posted November 3, 2024 Posted November 3, 2024 rohit was easily our best batsman in our last tour to Eng before they decided to leave for the IPL something about him suggests the issue is mostly mental. with kohli it's mental and technical
Prabhdeep Singh Posted November 3, 2024 Posted November 3, 2024 Possible line up at home excluding these 4: Jaiswal KL Gill Pant Sarfaraz Jurel (WK) Sundar Axar Kuldeep Yadav Bumrah Shami

KL is another eternal choker and Goenka did the right thingby kicking him out of LSG. I would also have Rinku in the mix as his FC stats are amazing - averages 55 and has shown he can handle intl cricket. Plus Akash Deep and Harshit need to be around as pacers, and Sai Kishore as a spinner in place of Kuldeep - never rated Kuldeep that much as he has shrinks under pressure. Also, Nitish Reddy needs to be groomed as pace all-rounder.
Stutter Posted November 3, 2024 Posted November 3, 2024 (edited) I think a lot of us - atleast I have - spent the last few years hoping for a second peak of Virat. His drive and passion to win was incredible to watch, when it lasted. But we finally have to accept the inevitable and let him enjoy his life, family & IPL. There's never been a good time to transition, with Rohit not slated to play the first test anyways. Washi replaces Ashwin, Axar in for Jaddu and Sai Sudarshan for Virat (or move the batsmen around) Jaiswal, Pant, Washi, Axar & (likely) Gill will fight it out in the batting line-up. We should hope for Sarfaraz & Sai Kishore to get a decent score in the first or second test to get their confidence going. We won the last series without the experienced, but struggling seniors. That Vihari effort in Sydney was the textbook definition of fight, which our current team totally lacks. Although we might end up losing badly, the fresh start will help us for the next WTC cycle. Else a encore of the (winless) 2011 England performance beckons. Edited November 3, 2024 by Stutter New guy 1

His drive and passion to win was incredible to watch, when it lasted. But we finally have to accept the inevitable and let him enjoy his life, family & IPL. And what exactly was the result of that drive and fake passion? What difference did it make? All we got were meaningless bi-lateral wins and when it mattered Kohli never showed up, just like playoffs in IPL. Even at his shortish peak from 2014-2018 he couldn't make any difference. He failed in 2015 WC SF, 2017 CT Final, 2019 WC SF, and the two WTC finals. That's a big list of no shows. It's all well and good making faces, spewing swear words, acting like a geriatric monkey when you don't show up at all when you're needed. Someone like Travis Head doesn't do any of these things and he has a much more impactful legacy. And in Tests Kohli doesn't have one single difference making innings in a winning cause away from home the way Pant and Pujara have. I'm sorry but other than scoring and chasing totals in useless matches, the so called "King" has come up short nearly everytime. It's a travesty that our greatest bowling unit headed by Bumrah and Shami couldn't win anything coz Kohli and other top order batters like Rohit and KL Rahul shyte the bed every time. Even likes of SL, WI, Pak, NZ (along with Eng and Aus) were able to win ICC tourneys over the last decade and we couldn't due to serial choking of our batters headed by the so called "King". I would be glad when the panauti moves away from intl cricket and showcases his choking abilities in IPL, and let the younger generation have its shot. It's unfortunate we wasted Bumrah's best years at the altar of king of chokers. New guy 1

zen Posted November 5, 2024 Author Posted November 5, 2024 Anyways, my current AT11 (for time pass): Gavaskar - Solidity and consistency. Good against both pace and spin. Probably, Ind’s best test batsman. Sehwag - High strike rate batting. A weapon on both good batting pitches and on turning pitches. Can bowl off-spin if required. Count Pujara - Solidity w/ fighting spirit. Magical against spin. Used to opening the batting as well (many times in early as openers were out in no time). Rewarded for his exceptional performance in Aus which gave India its first series win after 70+ years. Tendulkar - Good against both pace and spin. Good overseas record. Can roll his arm if required. Dravid - Solidity. Can serve as an emergency back up keeper. Pant - Flair and high strike rate batting. Mankad - Spin bowling AR. Can open the batting as well. Kapil or Srinath or Zak - Swing bowling AR or fast bowler or left arm pace bowler Shami - Multi-skilled pace bowler Bumrah - Multi-skilled pace bowler Chandra - Most conditions spinner Mariyam 1

Majestic Posted November 5, 2024 Posted November 5, 2024 Picking Shami over Kapil is the biggest joke served by OP. Shami can barely pick the number of test wickets which Kapil did in first 5 years and add his batting, it’s not even a contest. zen 1

In tests, most would agree that Pant is already ahead of any Indian WK. Mankad played in the 50s. Many times, he was like a one man show for India - The Mankad test … He has also opened for India where he scored two 200s. He has 2 100s in Aus and 1 in Eng. In fact, he had the highest partnership for India record as well which was broken by Sehwag-Dravid against Pakistan. At one point, he also had the highest individual score for India (231), which was broken by Gavaskar (234*), then by VVS (281), and is now held by Sehwag (319) iirc. He has picked up 8 wickets in an inning twice (once against Eng and once against Pak) so may also have held the best individual bowling record for India for a while. Chandra is relatively a mystery spinner who helped India win test series in both England and the West Indies in the 70s. Edited November 5, 2024 by zen Mariyam 1
Vilander Posted November 5, 2024 Posted November 5, 2024 After 3-0 to NZ a team few thought could win a test in India before this series leave alone a series and that too whitewash! I say whole team should be changed and India should play with India A team instead.
