No, thank you. Good for him if he wants to transition, but women's sports should strictly be only for biological women.

 

Trans women have ruined women's some sports in the US already (read about swimmer Lia Thomas, originally William Thomas). No need to bring this nonsense to India.

 

With Trump's victory, US already looks to be working on repealing Trans women in women's sports and rightly so.

What are you talking about ? Transgenders have been part of our society for ages. Infact we had a trans MP almost 20yrs ago. Do they have struggles yes they do, however to say its an alien concept for us is not correct. 

 

I am happy for Sanjays child. Free to do what makes them happy. As far as playing for women team, thats just nonsense and should not be entertained else every mediocre player will follow the route.

For simplicity i clubbed them together. Am assuming, removal of testicle would be a step when transitioning.

Transgender are born with one sex and they identify their gender different from the one they are born.

Eunuchs/Hijra might not be voluntary and they lose their penis much earlier as a kid , I presume.

Eunuch are those who have been castrated. Without getting into technical, my point was there is high acceptance of male as female in our society. Look at kapil sharma show or other comedy show atleast 1 guy is dressed up as women and those characters are loved.

Don't think it is fad. It always existed. People were too scared to come out. Now more or coming out. It is a major major life decision. People won't do it for fun. It probably helps reduce the hate against them.  I agree with the point about sports participation. Biology should determine it.

Hoping that Indian in India are better informed than this. This is so mal informed that I am not sure where to begin. Another reason why you should not learn about your country through western framework. 

 

I say this as someone whose only charitable cause association is working with transgender and gainfully employing them.

All of the people supporting this here would not want this to happen to their own son. 

 

I feel for Bangar. 

 

I think LBTQI is largely environmental, that's why it's so important for a man to spend lots of time with his son and teach him masculine behaviour.

I don’t care for his son’s choice, neither do I want to mock Sanjay Bangar here. None of my business.
 

my only issue with this whole deal would be if he wants to play women’s cricket. Hope that’s not the case.

 

BCCI may not allow this kind of bs anyway though.

The transgenders that we knew growing up in India are called "Intersex", which is a true case of a genetic anomaly of someone who doesn't have the right chromosomes. These are the transgenders known in India. It is a natural phenomenon. 

 

This new fad of gender identity is different from intersex. This is someone who feels like something else, and decides to just throw on a wig and a gown and call themselves women or in more extreme cases use puberty blocks and go through hormone replacement therapy. 

My take on this is very clear that they can do whatever they want to themselves, it is their choice, but that shouldn't give them access to women's safe spaces like restrooms and access to women's sports.

I have seen hijras using women's restroom in malls at chennai. I don't think they are going to be in women's sports.

 

I hope govt can help them move away from sex work and get jobs through NGO. Hijras should also try to stop forcing people to give money. 

 

 

 

Agree on the integration with the society and ask to be treated with dignity.

 

But this post was focused on the person going through transition and potentially requesting to be included in the Women's team. That is a strict no, particularly after seeing what happened with athletes like Lia Thomas.
