Should india scrap 5 test series

In last 25 years only two 5 test series has been won by touring teams which shows its almost impossible considering England Australia play so often .

 

I don't think india has ever won 3 tests in a series away and 3 wins are needed to win a 5 test series in modern draw less era

 

If we keep going with this 5 test series we will never win in Australia or england 

 

Why chase something which is almost impossible to accomplish 

 

3 test are good enough that way like in 2007 we can fluke a series win or 2

Come back to India or turn rest of the tests in to T20s. Losing such test matches is a torture. T20s no one cares.

5 Tests are too much in current era. There aren't many players having aptitude & fitness for red ball cricket. The best way forward is to let Eng-Aus play Ashes ( 5 Test) while India, a member of the BIG3, can create its own niche with a 4 Test matches series vs Aus & Eng. Also that will allow us to play 3 test match series vs NZ & SA also.

Its ridiculous. 

 

Since '97 Ashes, only twice has a visiting team won a 5 Test series , 2001 Ashes and 2010-11 Ashes. 

 

Cut it back to 4 against England and Australia and 2/3 against the rest.

5 is overkill, 2 is too less...especially against top sides

 

4 test series vs Aus, Eng

3 test series vs RSA, NZ (I wouldn't mind 4 since for me these are also marquee series)

 

2 test series against the rest for now. Also add some games against Zim, Afg, Ire where we can give game time to our rookies, like how RSA were doing against Zim. 

 

We must look to play 11-12 tests every year.

We basically treat thd first test as the practice match.

 

So, we are playing a 4 test series in the minds of Induan players.

I think all test series should be 3 Matches with SENA and 2 matches with SL,WI and Bangladesh

 

Test cricket mentality is dying in Indian youngsters.. BCCI dont care and IPL is their main focus why have more matches in a format which you will get embarrased every time you tour.. and recently get whitewashed even at home

Three is good enough! 5 matches is an archaic concept from a time when the T20 format and leagues didn't even exist! The rest day has been done away with from tests, it's time to also say goodbye to 5 test series.

England got shellacking. But htey came back strong. But it is their home ground. They have the crowd, condition behind them. Plus the toss. We actually dominated and yet lost thanks to some poor game awareness.  Test cricket requires patience, discipline for long periods. Sadly few of us didn't have that.

Lankans were as competitive as us last tour... Doesn't says much tbh.

Third test chase by Nissanka Chandimal Mendis were top draw.

I'd take Nissanka over Likes of Nair anyday of the week.

I love 5 test series, it seperates pretenders from contenders.SL won 2 test series once in England.

 

You can appericate Australian fast bowlers Cummins, Starc and Hazlewood for playing so many Ashes series and Indian series.

 

Or we will be crowning some geniuses as great fast bowlers without having endurance to play a long test series.

 

Batsmen have to sustain the form for five tests. 4 tests is a minimum between good teams.

Opposing teams should only be allowed 6 players in their team when they play India. But India should be in allowed players. 

 

Otherwise BCCI should refuse to play. BCCI has the power.
