Shivam Dube is going to cost us a big game very soon!

I honestly don’t know what the team management sees in him that he’s an automatic selection in our T20 side. 
 

- Has 0 footwork 

- Can’t rotate strike 

- Can’t play fast bowling 

- Can’t play bounce 

- Already 32 years old 

 

What am I not seeing that BCCI is?

Long levers and spin hitter. Powerful enough to send mishits over the rope. FWIW we have not lost some 30 games with him in the team.

 

Having said that someone like Parag brings more balance

You are insulting history maker. India has won 32 games without loss with Dube  :)  Dube has the second best strike rate for India in the year 2025.  Everyone else has strike rate of Rahane besides Abhishek.

Yes he has all the above mentioned shortcomings but then who is the power hitter does Ind have. He is like a designated spin basher or how and why he was selected in Ind-wc team.

 

The other option Ind has is Shashank, who has been playing as a finisher for PK and have won them matches in last 2 seasons, he looks more sorted compared to any other Ind player even the capped Ind players.

 

He is not as that bad as some suggest he is vs short ball at-least for sc and sc-like conditions, have not seen him being in discomfort and give away his wkts  against short ball instead he uses his high to good effect has deflects the ball towards the square leg boundary and sometime finer for 6.

 

Everytime he has come in the crunch situation he has not thrown it away but have tried to stick around let the game going. Yes he is yet to show his power hitting which he did for CSK but the reality is Ind does not have many or any power hitter.

 

Do not think parag can be that batter in t20is he needs to work on his bat swing not sure why no1 is telling it to him.

You can't look for all technical players in team.

 

T20 cricket has changed in last 5 years or so.

 

First 5-7 years - extended version of ODIs.

Next 5-7 years - game of streaky innovative shot players, bowlers throwing it wide and bowling cutters, bowling losing value

Next 5 years - Game of stand and hit batsmen like Abhishek Sharma, Dubey who don't need funky shots, bowlers back in game, pure specialists play.

S Dube should be the among the least of our problems right now. Biggest concern is Gill.

Dube has his uses on Indian pitches where next WC will be played, not a concern rn. More respect to him now after he showed his clutchness in 24 WC final, always value your players who show up on big days.

NO logic of playing GILL in a t20 match.

BCCI will spoil his game ....some one who is a perfect batsman , they want him to turn into a SLOGGER

i have 2 styles of play ..one in which i goon hitting and i can get out and second is defensive..in this style , I know that NO bowler can get me OUT if i am batting with full concentration. still some times when my team criticises me for playing SLOW , i go for the slog mood and get out.

it is not good for him to play t20 as he will have low scores too else he will only score big in odi and tests.

Power hitting.

Except him and Abhishek...everyone is the team are more of smart hitter and not power hitter.

 

Its not like we dont have power hitters...Shashank, Ashutosh, Samad, Ramandeep, Riyan are few more. Jitesh too is decent.

Dube doing ok  In Fact his 27 runs in 24 wc final really help the team to win the trophy. But parag is much better option than

Dube was crucial in the middle overs yesterday. Pak were looking good for 200+ at one stage.

 

His bowling was a pleasant surprise..

Im not a huge fan but The truth is there is no body else with his skill set: lower order slogger who can bowl. Especially if we have only 1.75 pacemen in Bumrah and Hardik and need an over or two of medium pace from somewhere else 

 

Vipraj could be the guy but he is a spinner 

 

Parag is a no 4 or 5 not 7 or 8
