every time there's a game in adelaide i think of that mammoth 303 partnership bewteen dravid and laxman. india 85/4 still 471 behind tendulkar gone for 1. the cricketing equivalent of lightning striking twice

How did India lose two tests with Bumrah in the team to this England team.One test that too chasing 375 in 4th innings.

 

Aussie bowlers have put in masterclass of bowling on flat pitch so far.

BazBall has been effective to an extent in conditions of Eng and NZ.

 

Boland  was thrashed brutally in England too.

NZ Pitches offer similar levels of speed and bounce to those in England.  Also, they have wickets that flatten out as the match progresses just like in England.

you have to factor in that england players are mentally shot when playing the aussies in australia

Losing tests happen all the time. Chasing 375 plus in 4th innings should not happen, it happened to India with Bumrah in it multiple times in England.

 

Second chase it was like 200 without loss , it does not matter where you are playing.

They chased 240 plus if I am not wrong in last innings there too.

They do have a  bit of carry as well.. especially in Basin Reserve.  But they didn't give them green mambas like they they do to India Pak and BD.  The worst pitches are reserved for India only... That don't flatten out even on day 3/4 like in 2020.  We should have won Christchurch game though and taken a 70-80 run lead minimum

 

 

But ofc Australia is different and the bowling unit and field placements were top draw from Cummins and Smith earlier.

 

They have researched every single player.

Pat Cummins has got Joe Root 12 times in test cricket, 15 times overall in international cricket, at an average of 23. For the form root has been in for the last couple of years, he has to score big against him going forward.

In tests, it's 24, all format 23 from what i have read. You can find it out on cricinfo too i guess.

 

Edit: These are his test stats h2h. Cummins not only gets him early more often than not, but keeps it tight, strike rate of 32 tells us story.

did u forget that this literally happened to Australia against a C team, at home, with their 4 best bowlers playing? Even six months ago, south africa chased down 282 runs with 5 wickets remaining, could have easily chased down another 50 that day if needed

 

4th innings chases are very much momentum based, if the pitch doesn't breakup. All it takes is one wicketless session and any bowling lineup can lose their minds in 4th innings. I know that you have an axe to grind against Bumrah, but Cummins & co hav much more embarrassing 4th innings losses on their resumes despite being 3 headed dragons

I don't have any axe to grind against anyone.282 with 5 wickets down vs 200/no wicket is different. It happened multiple times.

 

 

Bumrah stinks under pressure and has always stunk under pressure.

Why does SR matter in Tests. He's still there while others went cheaply

The problem for India was the forward press forced on the team by Kohli and all our batters were trying to play well in front of the body(Pujara apart).

 

We will do much better next time with the bat if we batted like how we did in England .

 

It's the bowling that's the worry.
