Here’s my take on the whole 2026 T20 World Cup fiasco

All three boards handled this terribly.

BCCI just went for the easiest target. Some secretary decided to block a Bangladeshi player, and that’s what kicked off the whole mess. Funny thing is, they had no problem playing Pakistan, Devajit Saikia really should be fired over this. Completely unprofessional. Punishing a young player for politics instead of cricket is just petty.

Props to Bangladesh for backing their player, but they got carried away by emotions. And yeah, Pakistan didn’t exactly stay out of it. They stirred the pot even more.

PCB, as usual, isn’t letting it go and keeps dragging it out.

Honestly, the whole thing is just sad and kind of ridiculous.

BCCI top brass lacks complete strategic thinking. They are always reacting, without considering adverse consequences.

1. Post sindhoor every Tom, dick & harry would have known playing Pakistan will be difficult & have cordial interactions with their players will be difficult.

on both these fronts they were reacting to social media pressure. They should have known after all the antics of Naqvi, collecting the trophy after finals would become an issue. They could have planned for having a foreign support staff collect the trophy. Flunked it & haven’t been able to force those inbreds till now.

2. Same with Fizz situation, reacting rather than planning ahead.

3.pretty sure there are more clusterf#cks in store as the tournament progresses.

we deserve it for having a nepo kid at the top rather than a competent administrator.

1. Ipl administrators should have known about the pulse of the country with respect to Bangladesh and silently make it known to the franchises to not have picked the player

2. Same goes to the franchises for picking and bidding on the player

3. Bangla boys as usual find it imperative to indulge in self flagellation.

4. Pak wants to play the geo political - islamic ummah card and still want to get the benefits of participating in the world cup.

If the bcci/goi had any gumption, they would ensure that all the other countries refuse to tour or host Bangladesh/Pakistan. Let them cry about fairness all they want , but the fact remains that one is a terrorist nation and the other is a bunch of namak haraams who has done nothing in cricket despite being gifted both independance ,  test status as well as energy (courtesy of India)

I understand Fizz situation could have been avoided with better planning .But that should have no bearing on BCB playing in world t20.

It is ridiculous that they used that one player issue to take a stand in boycotting in last moment. Plus they thought PCB would back them, for that reason alone they deserve this.

After this fiasco, we are free from such drama till the champions trophy 2029 ( hosted by India).

Asia Cup 2027 should be scrapped also.

India should never host another event. They always manage to find themselves in the cross hairs one way or the other. It is embarrassing.

Its been a sloppy work by bcci, through and trough. Its been like this for few years now.

Think started with Gangully, players and board having issues.  Communications issues.

Bcci should not host events for sometime now. There is no point of it. there is everything but cricket.

How come bcci is not foreseeing all this obvious issues, this looks like a proper set-up, what other boards do it upto them but bcci should work in a clean way.

They want to play cricket with certain boards then play, if not then do not do anything. You want to play but want to create fiasco as well around it.

Now that bcb has created an issue out of nothing there should be no need to get back to them... every multi-nation tournament the same circus goes on.

Those who say bcb is backing players, no they are not. IPL is just a league cricket a contract based tournament. Sure that kkr/ipl would have tried to work with fizz on this may have tried to bcb to bring them onthe board, all it did was getting ban from future ipl contract and may be no ind vs bd series.

Do not think other teams will also go to bd that frequently as a shadow/staging tour to Ind

BPL had multiple issues related to payments to the players and other corruption, no player involved their boards, they can go to their boards but what boards can tell players handle it themselves and not to go to the league again.

Think it was 2022-bbl , Husnain (pak intnl) was called out for chucking in one of the game and he was chucking and pcb called back all their contingent from bbl , this does not make CA to pull out of any tours/series planned vs Pak. though BBL is run by CA directly.

$200m is a number Vikrant gupta pulled out of his a$$ as value of India -pak game. By that logic did Asia cup generate over half a billion ? This whole money this one game makes is bullcrap. BCCI needs to stop this nonsense.

It's around 20-40m at best based on ad revenues. This is not the football world cup where there is mass interest. Cricket is played by a handful of countries, viewership is down and despite the fake hyperbole its all pretty lame.

In cricketing terms the Ashes probably generates greater revenue & profit.

  • International markets

  • Subscription uplift

1. BCCI did first mistake by allowing Kanglus in IPL draft

2. They did second mistake by pushing KKR to throw out Fizz, could have just kept him on bench and then released him post the IPL. Its not as if he is some superstar who cant be replaced.

Till now, situation was still controllable. Backroom talks could have sorted the matter between BCB, BCCI & Fizz.

3. PCB came in the mix and provoked BCB, they though to used BCB as a pawn to armtwist BCCI. Easily forgetting (or maybe not) that the WT20 is an ICC event and not ACC.

4. BCB took the bait, forgot about their financial situation and tried to chew more than what they can digest. As a result, for one player in a domestic tournament they just sacrificed their entire team on playing a reputed international event.

I don't think BCCI and the fans realize the image damage it did to India. That's the sad part about it.

What damage has it done to BCCI and its image.

BCCI is fully allowed to advise its franchise about one player in its domestic league. I don't agree how they went about it but still they are allowed to advise based on the things happening in Bangladesh

BCCI's image  has grown,   it has shown balls to say to BCB, take a hike, you cannot blackmail us.

I have to genuinely ask, are you blind? Or are only concerned about what the Indian media/folks say? Move out of the Indian bubble and see what the reality is...
