Preseeding and Indo-Pak rigging are wrong.

 

Last 2 points always happen. Aus in 2015 WC, Eng in 2019, they knew where they would play their SF beforehand. Not playing final group games simultaneously happens in most sports I follow. Football may be an exception.

Everyone is entitled to his/her opinion. As for me: 

 

* Preseeding is unwarranted. Once you set up the first group, the next groups should form based on that. If you take S8 has the main group and the previous group as warm ups to facilitate associates than the S8 pre-seeding is understandable but unwarranted. In 2007 ODI World Cup or post it, I think pre-seeding was done to help fans plan out their trips. 
 

* Ind-Pak (and many times Aus-Eng) should be drawn based on their ranking and not to gulp revenues. Boycott the game(s) if ICC continues to do that. 
 

* It makes sense to play the last group games simultaneously as the one drawn to play the last game has an advantage. Ind, Pak, and SL have been drawn last so they know what to do to qualify. In this world cup, SL is already out.
 

* I agree that hosts SF venues should not be pre-decided. It should be based on where a team ends up with a clear path such as A1 v B2 at this venue and A2 v B1 at this venue. The hosts go to the venue based on their position - A1, A2, B1, and B2.
 

Hopefully moving forward, ICC will look into this.

Pre-seeding is nonsense that should be eliminated and also no more rigged India-Pakistan matches.

 

England team was the biggest beneficiary in this World Cup due to rigged pre-seeding.

India Pak group fixing is done so that all of ICC members can pay their players enough to feed their families.

 

Venue of one of the hosts SF being predecided - never heard of that before ? Tell me you haven't watched enough ICC tournaments.

 

India will anyway not need any RR margins to qualify for SF. And anyway no games are played simultaneously due to broadcasters.

Pre-seeding Super8 group matches is done to help the travel plans of fans and ensure India matches happen at primetime India timeslots.

 

Besides, it is impossible to not pre-seed the groups for this tournament since Pak won't travel to India and co-hosts SL's games should be held in SL.

 

Also, what possible advantage can India gain by putting themselves in the same group as the other two pre-tournament favorites: Australia and South Africa.

 

And why the heck should hosts India play their semifinal in Colombo instead of Mumbai? Might as well move the match to London so little Timmy stops whingeing.

 

Putting India and Pakistan in the same group every time is the only wrong thing here.
