Apologise to SKY

There is no way we would have lost to ireland if he was still captain. has bailed us out numerous times, especially against minnows, and knows how to marshal our bowlers far better than iyer.

I think the ICT is being cursed by the Gods for mistreating its world cup winning captain like this and dropping him immediately for the next match. We are going to have further more terrible days until we apologise and repent.

Still think moving on from SKY was the right thing to do, but Iyer coming in right away as captain was not. Samson or Ishan should have been made captain, and Iyer's inclusion should have been more phased.

There should have been a transition

tossing a WC winning captain immediately like that was uncalled for

My definition of transition would be to appoint an existing squad member as captain

To be really honest, and all jokes aside, dropping SKY was the right call. Yes he won the WC as captain. Yes, the USA innings was special. Even so, he has had a prolonged slump, including IPL where they serve up easy wickets and enough innocuous bowlers to feast on.

I am a big SKY fan and will always be one, but the decision to drop him was justified, and Iyer's failure does not automatically justify SKY in the team.

The problem, however, was picking Iyer at this point in time. Last year this time? Yes. But his batting and his captaincy have regressed in the past year. They should've made Samson or Kishan the captain, added Sooryavanshi. Even then, we may have lost, but at least we are giving youngsters a chance to show what they've got.

Bottom line: A year is a lifetime in T20 cricket. Things change fast.

Early days for Iyer he will be fine. That said it was time for SKY to go just as it was time for a Dhoni or Virat or Rohit to go.

India irrespective of captaincy is any day better than Ireland as a team.

I didn’t watch any of the matches, I don’t care we lost, it could happen even to the best at times. But I hate the squad, you couldn’t play sooriyavanshi against Ireland?

exactly what do you see in Washington to give him so many chances in LOI?

One could dismiss this series as an aberration. But i cannot go past the way he handled punjab resources. Repeatedly Punjab conceded 200 plus. They totally relied on outbatting opposition.. opposite of GT who tried to outbowl opposition.  I rather prefer team 2.  Australia women's team are dominant not because of their batting. But bowling. They are the only team that has an ER under 7 in the last 2 years.

I feel maybe they could have kept surya on in the team on the bench in a transition of some sort.

While his form was poor, maybe there was something he did in the dressing room (act confident? calm nerves?) that seemed to work for the team.

These are soft skills not seen by the fans who look at the raw numbers.

Even Bapu could have been the captain. He was the VC, afterall. It makes no sense to make Tilak the VC when Ishan and Sanju are there.

world cup is in 2028. So 50% of the decision was correct. Remaining 50% questionable.

Yes problem is having Iyer not removing SKY

SKY was a good captain and team player . Only judging based on what we see, Iyer doesn’t seem like a guy who can gel with everyone. As a batsman I feel Iyer is better well rounded player than SKY. However SKY was a very good man manager, 0 doubts.
