Can Kumble be given another stint as India coach?

I had posted in another thread, but throught best to have it's own topic.

During Kumble's time in charge, India won 12 and lost only 1 of the 17 Tests they played, and claimed ODI series wins over New Zealand and England. India also reached the final of Champions Trophy during the rift between him and Kohli.

Kumble said Kohli had "reservations", about his coaching style.

Kumble said the Board of Control for Cricket in India had "attempted to resolve the misunderstandings", but he decided it was "best to move on".

His style may be more suited to a young team that we have now, and we need to become strong again in tests at home!

Hard taskmasters don't work well with ICT whether its Chapell, Kumble and now GG.

All our previous successful coaches like Wright, Kirsten Shastri worked from the background giving support to the team and feeding their egos

Shastri achieved nothing major despite having a near perfect side.  Man was overrated af

Kumble looked near invincible in his tenure until fallout with Kolly that simmered and triggered CT final defeat.

If everything would have gone well ... We perhaps would have made significant gains in upcoming SA and Eng tours.

Tactically light years ahead of GG

That was John Buchananish level brief ruthlessness which we witnessed

Shastri was a glorified cheerleader. Zero tactics or strategy.

All he offered was good vibes and drinking sessions with coaching buddies.

Kumble will do well esp as he has been the most prolific thinker : strategist . The superstars need to be reigned in by a megastar

Can be done once RoKo retires entirely.

Post 2027 ODI WC.

Though Kumble will be 57 y.o. by then, and Coaches usually have an age limit of <60. So he will have a brief window for a couple of years only.

Make Rahane coach. Doubt he lasts in ipl more than one more season

He will not play IPL.. retired from that as well

Might become Mumbai coach for a start

Kumble's style will not work.He came across like head master dealing with students with cane.

Captain is always the king in cricket. It should remain like that, coach is there to help the captain.

Exactly. At that level, you don't need a Viru Sahasrabuddhe. You just need someone who can treat the players like colleagues and everyone have a healthy respect (not deference, just respect) for one another.

I don't think that is confirmed yet. He is available for IPL. He will lose his captaincy. Don't think any team will pick him.Not even CSK.
