Shivaji bhonsle Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 This situation reminds me of Sachin after 2007 wc. He came back stronger because he had good technique although he struggled with reflexes. Dhoni can't manage with his slow reflexes when he has no technique whatsoever.
express bowling Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 The main issue is consistency. Dhoni has lost his ability to be consistent as a captain from 2012. It is high time he is replaced as a captain by Kohli.

putrevus Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Dhobi's place in the team should never be questioned until we see a keeper who can score runs by buckets. My problem with Dhoni is him being captain and his T-20 spot.If you ask Dhoni honestly he will tell you he never was great T-20 player. As we have seen again in this great innings he struggled to finish .He was swinging and missing for 5 balls before connecting one.Dhoni always had limited shots in aresnal but made up with his strong running between the wickets. He was more adventurous when he was young but as he has become older he has cut down his shots. He has become drafter should bat at no4 if he wants to play till next world cup and Kohli should be at no 3.Raina and two others (including Rahane) should be battling for other spots.Rahane is curious case he does not want to bat at no3 in test matches but he is ready to bat at no3 in odis.Rahane at no3 will always be liability, he is not good at rotating strike. He builds so much pressure on others especially during chases. sandeep Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Surprised to see so many fans of Kohli's captaincy - this is the captain who played Karn sharma instead of Ashwin and cost us the Adelaide test match. Kohli's not a poor captain, but he's not quite the second coming of Brearley yet. And Dhoni may not be perfect, but tactically he's the best India ODI captain I have seen since the early 1990s. sscomp32 1
Kalia_Test Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 With Sidhoni here. Dhoni is the best we have. Calm, cool, assured captain. Does not mean we will win every match. Great batsman ABDV - why did he not win it for SA today or in Semis in WC? What happened to great captain Ponting and great finisher Hussey in QF WC 2011? Ponting 100 down the drain...Hussey bowled by a Zaheer special IIRC.As a batsman, he finds his way to score. Singles, twos, fours, sixes. Has been batting with tail mostly recently. He would have easily had a ton today if he had a proper batsman at other end. For him, it does not matter. His runs made India WIN and thats what mattersHail Dhoni sscomp32 and Shunya 2
ravishingravi Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 I think Dhoni should retire after this series. Or atleast give timeline for retirement.Because fans have no cricketing sense. Will he be playing the next world cup? No. Is he blocking someone's place ? Yes. Is he pulling Team India bac? Yes. FischerTal 1
Mosher Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 (edited) Dhoni is good to continue playing in ODI's but not as captain. Dhoni's team selections like dropping Mishra was baffling to say the least. Edited October 15, 2015 by Mosher
Lannister Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 I don't mind him playing as a batsman but a captain, hell nooo. Always playing politics with team selection, always giving priority to his chamchas , tactically inept and corrupt, no motivation, should be get rid of his captaincy for the bettermen if Indian cricket.
express bowling Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 (edited) We should demarcate between Dhoni the captain and Dhoni the ODI batsman. He is still one of the better ODI batsmen around but his captaincy is looking jaded, tired, non-motivating...resulting in massive inconsistency in performance. We should also demarcate between captain Dhoni till 2011 and captain Dhoni from 2012. He was a very good captain previously ...now he is sub-par. It makes little sense to have an inconsistent captain. There is no point in supporting Dhoni's captaincy unless he starts winning more consistently...which looks extremely doubtful. rkt.india Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 I have no problem with Dhoni in ODIs as batsman or captain, but as batsman he should be batting at 4. But in T20s, he just does not deserve a place as a batsman.
CG Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 LOL at you people questioning his captaincy. He may not be the best captain but he is certainly India's best oDI captain What do you expect him to do with this mediocre to pathetic trundle bowling line up plus the erratic bonehead Yadav and Darthbhajan? Given his slim bowling resources, he is doing just fine.Dhoni captaincy has been monotonous and timid. He is one of the most defensive captain by nature, perfect example was ashwin taking wicket and he took him off and he got injured costing India the Match. He is not going to play the next wc so no point in dragging on.
nevada Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Dhoni should retire after the 2023 world cup. He is a tactical genius as captain, the best WK batsman by a distance and fit enough to play till 40. After all, Misbah captained at the age of 40 in a world cup. Dhoni should be given the opportunity to do the same.
