The current team is not even good in IPL barring Rohit and a few others. Where are the innovative batsmen? Where are the leg spinners? Where are they? (Batman voice)

After 2007 World T20, India never selected enough six hitters. After decline of Yuvi, only Raina was reliable, but even he has declined.

 

Guys like Yusuf Pathan and Uthappa were dumped on their ODI records, guys like Kedhar Jadhav, Vohra, Nair, Surya Kumar Yadav are regular big six hitters in IPL. 

 

whilst likes of Rahane, Dhawan, Yuvraj don't have high SR and don't hit many sixes in IPL.

 

The selectors always go for conservative approach (I feel influenced by Dhoni). 

 

You look st teams like Aus, NZL and Eng, and they are packed with T20 specialists who have performed well in T20 competitions. Whilst India team selection is heavily influenced by ODI performance. 

 

If not Yusuf Pathan, this India squad should have included Kedhar, Vohra, Surya Kumar Yadav proven six hitters in IPL.

As long Dhoni is the captain don't expect anyone to be given chance. In bowling we were forced to Bring Bumrah And Nehra and they bowled well while in batting we were stuck with same old horses

The fundamental problem is that Dhoni/selectors keep on shoving ODI players into T20s. 

 

You have to respect the format and pick those who are performing and have the necessary skill set.

 

In the current team around half are hopeless/past it and should never have been picked in the first place.

 

With the right players this was a golden opportunity to win a trophy on home soil but it has been thrown away due to awful selections.

Raina, Rohit , Rahane are ipl stars. 

Axar patel was one another ipl star m sure no one wanted him. 

 

The thing in ipl is u can easily target domestic bowler and see of international bowlers. 

Raina role in ipl is come n start hitting from ball 1 where most times he was given gud starts by mcclumm, hussey, smith, hayden , vijay n all. 

 

We had enough ipl stars but we can better next time. 

Players i wud Like to see next wc ( Form to be also counted) Manan Vohra, Samson, Kuldeep yadav, Chahal. Hope we find few gud bowlers and few power hitters as well in next 4 yrs of ipl.

We need power players on such pitches which we do not have. None of India batsmen is a power player in this team except past it Dhoni and Pandya.

Selectors should learn & select young players for next T20 series. There are lot of young exiting players who are ready for international cricket. Dhoni has made his mind that now ready made cricketers are not available in domestic cricket,so he want to play with certain sets of players. The selectors should be brave & select young players.What we have gained by selecting Nehra, Harbhajan, Yuvi etc

Selectors cannot force everything on a captain who has a closed mind and narrow outlook... It's in the hands of captain how he utilises the available resources... I mean for couple of matches you have a bowler like Ashwin bowling only 2 overs and not finishing his quota where as a long hopper Pandya finishes his quota every match no matter how much runs scored against his bowling... Jaddu will bowl full quota because he bowls fast darts which captain gets orgasms on... In some matches UV will bowl and in some he won't..

Rahane wont be good even in ODIs. Even ODIs have become an extended T20s now.

True he is very avg in Odi, 2 100s in 70 games thats not a gud record and shudnt even blame his batting position

I cud rem so many chances he had last yr when he was set and he cud have gone n made a 100 but mostly he throws his wkts at 40-50. 

His strike rotation is not that gud . Cud learn a thing from kohli as to how many doubles he take and how he puts pressure on fielders and also how he keeps the scoreboard ticking whereas rahane plays a lot of dot balls. 

 

Shud go to gym and some weights and put some muscle to hit some power shots

True..> But his 'effectively" last ODI is somewhere in 2008 or so. I know he had some chances in Zim tour and 1 or two in SL series but that's about it. He did not get a continuous run like he did in his first stint.

Uthappa seemed to have improved his technique and temperament a lot in the last few years and matured completely. Especially from 2014 or so, both his domestic record as well as the IPL performances have been very very good.

 

I think he deserves at least one last run in ODI cricket. His previous bad record is perhaps working against him in the minds of the selectors!!!

All the big names since there first INTL debut

 

We certainly have decent hitters around 20-25, but we picked Raina and Yuvraj. They sure might win you a game or two in short term but they are past it. Raina struggled even in IPL last time. I have not seen him playing with assurance in a long time.

We need to draft in guys who can hit sixes in T20s.

Pandya is already in the squad . I want to see more of Hooda this year IDK what's the story with samson he was damn good at start but his batting went down a bit..

 

There is an issue for the wicketkeeper slot. Samson isn't there anywhere near the skills of MSD even in keeping. We need to find a good keeper very soon.
