tweaker Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 Selectors should rest some players regularly considering the amount of test cricket we are going to play. Shami should be rested for the 3rd test & Shardul should be given a game . Mosher, express bowling and sscomp32 3
Tibarn Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 At this point, I think 5 bowlers may not be on the cards. We have to accommodate both Rohit and Pujara in the lineup, and we need an opener. I don't think they will send Pujara to open again, especially since we have a backup in the squad (Gambhir). Rohit has likely won Kohli's confidence over the last two test matches, so he is almost a certainty at this point. So we will likely go with 4 bowlers again. Depending on the pitch, we may just play 1 pacer + 3 spinners. Since the series is sealed, I was thinking it would be a good opportunity to give the bench (Nair, Jayant Yadav, and Thakur) a go, otherwise we can't really develop our bench strength without them getting experience, but I also want to whitewash NZ to build our lead at No.1 in the rankings. tweaker 1
Mosher Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 Shami needs some rest too. He should be rested for the ODI series. Bumrah, Sran and Dhawal can be the bowlers for the ODI series. tweaker, express bowling and Bleed-Blue 3
Lannister Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 Kuldeep should've been in the squad. Mishra, Jadeja, Kuldeep, Umesh and Thakur would've made an ideal one giving a perfect cushion for the new comers. Tibarn, philcric, tweaker and 1 other 4

express bowling Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 I want to see Shardul Thakur get a game. Shami needs to be rested for the ODI series. Is Sran fit ? Bumrah, Sran, Dhawal and Pandya could be our bowlers in ODIs. It is very important that we manage the workload of all-format pacers like Shami. Mosher, tweaker and G_B_ 3

Sran is out due to stress fracture for sometime http://www.sportskeeda.com/cricket/injury-troubled-barinder-sran-rues-missing-out-upcoming-new-zealand-series Yup now it becomes really important to manage Shami's workload. Also even ashwin since he has some injury on his finger I would rest shami for last test and play him for 3 odi n rest for 2. Its imp to win Odi to and it ll help us find more option for test bowling lineup tweaker and Mosher 2

I would play Shami there and rest him atleast for 3 ODIs.
BeautifulGame Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 Would rest Shami and play three spinners for the 3rd test . 3 spinners will help Ashwin with his workload as well
MCcricket Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 Shhardul Thakur another trundler like MOHIT Sharma, bowls similar pace, why don't selectors wake up, Aniket Choudhury, Nathu, Suyal, Ankit are the real contenders not a trundler that too in India

Rite now, Shami is more needed for Odi specially after bhuvi n sran injury. Umesh, thakur still will manage in test but no way in Odi's Test series is won n Nz looks like they have surrendered mentally and Umesh n thakur are both good with reverse, it would the best chance for both of them to take up the role. sscomp32 and Forever Indian 2

Bilateral ODI series do not matter as much as a bilateral test series because there is a World Cup which decides who the top team is. There is a Champion's Trophy even. Such series should be used to unearth some new players who can come in handy or add to our bench strength in the next CT and WC. Bumrah, Dhawal and Pandya can be our pacers. We can try some new guys too....one at a time though. If Ashwin is injured , even then we can use Jadeja, Axar, Chahal and Mishra as our spinners. Maintaining the fitness, of an ace pacer like Shami, should be our priority. Edited October 6, 2016 by express bowling tweaker 1

Maintaining the fitness, of an ace pacer like Shami, should be our priority. I just saw ur post somewere mentioning that the number of ODI dhoni has lost in some last 9 odi n so, well if bilateral series dnt matter whats the point of quoting those examples. Well n if WC n CT matter most then Dhoni has won Last Ct and been a semi finalist in WC n t20 also. By that logic forget scrutinizing he shouldnt be even touched upon If we plan to throw in so many youngster well then we should consider all such facts before criticizing any captain. Already there are injuries to dhawan, rahul n bhuvi. U can throw in Gambhir in test match but in Odi u need good fielders as well. Ashwin did miss out in Sa series and we beared the result of it ...... Whats the point of having jaddu n Axar in same line up, mishra a complete liability in field and doesnt give any confidence as a strike bowler. Pandya aint a pacer, his bowling is ideal to be smashed on indian pitches. Specially when winter is heading there is going to be a lot of dew. Forget being a 3rd seamer he wont give u complete 10 overs for some time. He has good pace but 10 over in India from him Naaaaaaaa...... I would'nt wanna throw a youngster in an Odi series where it hard for a bowler. What youngsters do we have to throw in odi- Nathu ( no ball issue , free hits can cost us a game), Aaron (no way), Sanghwan (to soon), Unadkat (hahahahaha), Rajpoot (may be), Mohit sharma ( recycled so many times, yea but an asset on field atleast). The team we are facing is NZ who have some powerful strikers who are use to Indian tracks in IPL. Bumrah is good and dhawal wud be a decent Backup but ill rather have shami for 3 games. Bumrah doesnt give any confidence with new ball . Umesh in one last test match or Dhawal needing to win an odi series well the 1st options gives u more confidence. And yes test matches are more imp so it important to give games to other bowlers specially where atleast spinners can take over. OR else will be stuck with Ishant sharma for long. Mainting shami fitness is imp so i would really want him to rest these 5 days and may be even 1st 2 odi's but i would want him for atleast 3 odi's. IF we win 1st two without him n bowlers does well he can have a lil long rest as Ind-eng test series is a long one sscomp32 1

I said, " they do not matter as much ( as a bilateral test series ) ". It is a comparative statement....not an absolute one. If we are forced to pick an ace bowler in either a test match or an ODI match ....and not both...then I will choose him in a test match. That does not mean we should not choose a good side in a bilateral ODI series. We should do the best we can. And we should try to win every ODI series ....but not at the cost overworking a top pacer at test level. Which is why every country is trying to develop LOI specialists. Apart from Shami you choose every good ODI player available to you. I did not ask for the team to be filled with youngsters...but try one or two at a time to build bench strength and develop youngsters. There are only 9 good teams competing in ODIs and a semi-finals berth in such a scenario is not really the same as a football world cup semi-final. Anything less than a final appearance is average performance as it means that you are not even in the top 18 %. We did well as an ODI team upto CT 13. Bilateral ODIs dont matter much because they have a WC/CT which decides the champion. In tests there is no such things so bilateral series are the one which becomes important to decide top team. So how does it matter what someone does in Bilateral ODIs till the tournament performance is good because that's what decides the champion. You cant have your cake and eat it too. Could you please explain the part in bold. Which part is having the cake and which part is eating it in the context of international cricket ? We should obviously try to win every bllateral ODI series as they are still international matches....so, they do matter definitely......tests and ODI WCs are just more important comparatively. mishra Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 Bound to happen if yopu go with just 2 pacers in a test game. A very important series against English coming up. We need atleast Bhuvi, Ish,Yadav,Shami fit and available for each game beetle 1
