Mosher Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 Another good performance from Umesh. Was a bit expensive in his 1st spell but made up for that in the middle and death overs. tweaker, Laaloo and express bowling 3

Pls we should consider his performance with the bat as well.....considering the situation, those runs were gold.... I am not talking about technique but the maturity shown is pretty good express bowling, Mosher and tweaker 3

Temujin Khaghan Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 umesh yadav is the kind of cricketer who will never come of age... he is in the ishanth sharma mould even until his retirement, we can never fully rely on him to carry the team home. Lord, G_B_ and tweaker 3

Mosher Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 2 good games and 1 bad game. Yeah he bowled poorly at the death, should have bowled more yorkers instead of bowling short. Anyway he is playing this series only because the other 2 pacers are rested. Play him for the rest of the series, if he does well keep him as the 4th pacer else he should be playing only test matches. G_B_, express bowling and Tibarn 3

As you and I were discussing previously in this thread, Umesh will end up getting hit the moment he bowls in the slog overs, as he is not good at bowling yorkers with consistency. The same applies for any other LOI pacer who is not adept at bowling yorkers. In our team, only Bumrah, Shami and Bhuvi ( from 2016 ) can bowl yorkers. Even Pandya needs to practice doing this. I was a bit surprised to see even NZ not trying enough yorkers at the end, especially Boult....who ended up giving away 73 runs in his 10 overs today. Sort of outlines the importance of this delivery in LOI end overs. tweaker, Rightarmfast, Mosher and 1 other 4

Alot of very good bowlers never perfect the yorker hence why on a bad day you see them going for over 7 an over. Thats why even top class loi's bowlers like Boult can be smashed. rkt.india Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 there are not too many perfect bowlers who are good at both up front and at death. Going for runs in slog overs is nothing surprising. It happens with most bowlers. 16 hours ago, Temujin Khaghan said: umesh yadav is the kind of cricketer who will never come of age... he is in the ishanth sharma mould even until his retirement, we can never fully rely on him to carry the team home. likes of Dale Steyn also goes for runs in slog overs, does it mean he never came of age? going for runs in slog overs is not a big deal. 10 hours ago, express bowling said: Kumble needs to work with Umesh regarding bowling yorkers. Last time, Bhuvi went for 100 plus in an ODI where he could not bowl a single yorker. Same with Shami who ends up bowling low fulltosses. Mosher, panther, Bigg Brother and 5 others 7 1
Rightarmfast Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 Btw, apart from yorkers, did anyone else notice that they termed Umesh Yadav as ' Right Arm Fast Medium'? express bowling 1

True....with the kind of pitches, bats and fielding restrictions and small grounds we have nowadays....going for runs in the slog overs is par for the course. Even the skilled Boult went for 73 runs yesterday, 22 off one over, but I don't see anyone criticizing his bowling. We have seen so many top SA, Australian, English and Pakistani pacers being taken apart in recent ODIs but they are still considered good bowlers. 12 hours ago, rkt.india said: Even Shami and Bhuvi are not good with yorkers. Even low full-tosses are better than good-length deliveries in the slog overs. Umesh got a wicket when he bowled one of those yesterday. Also, Shami does bowl some proper yorkers, although not with the same frequency as Bumrah. Improving one's ability to bowl the yorker in LOIs will make a pacer more confident. It should be practiced a lot by every pacer who wants a good career in LOIs. Mosher and Rightarmfast 2
maniac Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 (edited) Umesh has done well so far and also has shown that he tries to outthink batsmen...that's all that is needed...things like a slogger at No 10 or No 11 will once in a while get hold of any bowler....Umesh has improved a lot from what I have seen in this series. Even Razzaq and Douglas Marillier have smashed McGrath in a one-off situation Edited October 24, 2016 by maniac tweaker, Tibarn, Mosher and 1 other 4
