Australia their announced squad for the upcoming India tour today

 

Australia squad

Batsmen: Steven Smith (capt), David Warner, Matt Renshaw, Usman Khawaja, Shaun Marsh, Peter Handscomb, Matthew Wade (wk)

 

All Rounders: Glenn Maxwell, , Mitchell Marsh.

 

Spinners : Ashton Agar, Steve O'Keefe, Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Swepson.

 

Seamers : Mitchell Starc,Josh Hazlewood, Jackson Bird

 

6  Batsmen ,4 Spinners and just 3 seamers.Handscomb will be the backup keeper.

 

Of the spinners Swepson is a leggie and has not played a test match before.

 

Betting heavily on their spinners and just bringing 3 seamers.Funnily complete opposite of England who bought 5 seamers for their trip.One big difference with with England squad is the sheer lack of decent all rounders.If we prepare similar wickets to England and with the heat in Feb-March ,Cant see Strac or Hazlewood surviving the full tour with the workload they will have to do on our wickets.

1st Test - Feb 23-27 ,  Pune

2nd Test -Mar 4-8 , Bangalore

3rd Test - 16-20 Mar , Ranchi

4th Test - 25-29 March ,Dharmasala

It's still winter. Weather won't be a factor but I don't see the Aussie winning a single game.they will be praying that we prepare flat wickets like the England series

Agar is a bullshyt bowler, good batsman though who can give us hard time when he comes to bat down the order.

 

I think India needs to make sure they play full strength against Bangladesh and do not take that game lightly. It will serve as good warm up for Ashwin-Jadeja-Jayant and even our seamers to get ready for the Aus series.

Kohli doesnt seem like someone who will get complacent. His hunger to do the best in each and every test is evident and it rubs off on others. It was the same when MSD was initially made captain in 2007, the hunger was evident in the entire team

I predict a 4-0 win for India.

Following the pommie playbook. But Mitchell Marsh is not Ben Stokes, but Glenn Maxwell can simulate that with the bat while Marsh will add some stock bowling relief.

Marsh, Agar, and Maxwell - extend the batting lineup to try and make team India work harder for 20 wickets.

Let's see how it goes.

2 seamers in Starc and Hazlewood will play for sure.

Warner,Renshaw,Smith(C),Khawaja,Handscomb,Wade(Wk),Marsh/Maxwell,Starc,O'Keefe,Lyon,

Hazlewood.

This is their likely XI.We should thrash them.Warner,Smith,Lyon and Starc will be key for Australia.

If aussies play Agar as second spinner, you know they are playing defensively for a draw. I wouldn't be surprised to be honest.

I thought Zampa was ODIs/T20 player, hasn't played Tests?
