Dhawan deserved this series at least given how good an ODI bat he has been.

In fact he should probably go to the Champs Trophy too- lets face it, who else can be there as opener, even with Rohit back and Rahul in the squad we need one more.. Manish Pandey isnt an opener I know he has done it a bit in IPL but shouldn't in ODIs. Rahane isn't an ODI player so for me The only other options are Mandeep, or Mukund- Mandeep should have been in the squad but I defo think Shikar is a better bat

Mandeep isn't an India material.doesnt have the technique to open.

Rahane will replace Rahul next game. Dhawan will stay.

Dhawan threw his wicket away in both innings while Rahul got out to good balls both the times.

Hope that is considered.

Manish Pandey got shafted after a good Aus series, but Dhawan needs to stay.

Scoring runs in hostile overseas conditions is worth triple compared to batting in India.

He got shafted and should have been rewarded. If Dhawan fails in the third ODI, Pandey should be given the opportunity to open. There is literally no other position available in the current line up.

Dhawan will bat very very cautiously in the third ODI, his career may be on the line. I wouldnt be surprised to see a very poor SR on Sunday by him.

Dhawan will play and score a slooow 50 odd to secure his place - same old pattern.

Desperately need at least one opener who can come out blazing and score at more than a run a ball.

In the same match when Pandey scored 100 , Dhawan played a great knock as well @ SR of 140 setting up the game.Dhawan also scored big in the previous 2 games in the AUS series .

Since then Pandey had 5 failures in a row against Newzealand and Dhawan had 2 failures vs England .

Looks like he is "injured" as per reports

It's become so obvious that 90% of the time when a player is dropped they report it as he is injured.

All the pattis/bandages and stuff you see are fake.

Don't worry hopefully Rahane will get 55 of 60 balls today (Chasing 380 on a super flat wicket) and he can be re instated as an LOI opener and continue to fail for a couple more years.

661 runs scored in a match

3 centuries and a 99 between both teams

hardly constitutes 'hostile overseas conditions'
