Honestly Cook playing 138 tests and captaining 59 tests in a decade is really ridiculous.It just shows the insane number of tests England are playing in last decade. Sachin took 24 years to to play 200 tests and Gavaskar 16 years to play 125 tests.

Same things which were being said about Dhoni after he resigned from captaincy are being said about Cook.We all know both of them resigned knowing fully well they were either going to be sacked or at best one bad loss away from kicked out.

He stayed as captain after 5-0 ashes in 2014. So much for respect after second whitewash after 3 years. He also lost to Pakistan 2-0.

They were for now at least in public but if he lost the series against SA in similar fashion as Aussies did which is not far fetched idea given the history of South Africa and England captains. I think he would have been dumped in heartbeat. Last two innings defeats and fifth test  in particular has left lot of bad taste for them.

Didn't they chuck Cook out of odi team right before world cup. captaincy is important but team morale is more important. Dhoni never was same captain after 0-8 fiasco and he never had the control of the team since then both privately and publicly.

 

If not for Strauss he would have been dumped right after India series.

No after 2011 world cup where England played world cup right after Ashes ,it was moved to avoid playing two most important series back to back.That is why India played before last world cup in Australia instead of England.England played tri series to get acclimated before world cup.

As I stated after the Test series, I'd much rather see Trevor "Fearless (Reckless) Cricket" Bayliss step down, at least as Test coach. The England Test team is going backwards under his leadership.

No idea what he's up to now but he had a solid career for Hampshire after his England career finished. Think he captained them for a while, at least in LO cricket.

He is gone and out now
