Popular Post Muloghonto
Pains me to say this, but in my 30+ years of watching cricket, he may quite possibly be the worst captain I've ever seen. The only reason I say 'possibly' is because he only has *ONE* quality as a captain: his performances with the bat are definitely 'captain showing the way'. But that's it. His on-field decisions are mediocre, so I will give him a neutral score on it. He is not brilliant like Mark Taylor or even good like Ranatunga with his on-field choices, but he isn't completely crap either. Very average. But Virat Kohli sucks at practically everything else : He is a horrible team selector. He is completely in denial about taking responsibility for the team he picks. And above all, he is the worst captain ever in destroying confidence of each and every single player in the team by chopping and changing randomly. Sets a poor example in the field with his uncouth aggressiveness. ( there is a fine line between Kohli style tapori-giri slummer attitude and aggressive but cool temperament like Steve Waugh or McCallum.) A captain that fails to take personal responsibility is the worst leader of all. Lost a lot of respect for Kohli after this interview, as he lacks the most basic quality of a leader : to step up and take personal responsibility. Great leaders ALWAYS question their decisions when things don't go right. Because one cannot lead, if one cannot see self as first line of critique. Kohli is 180 degrees opposite of this mentality. We need a new captain and we need him fast. Edited January 17, 2018 by Muloghonto Unstable Joe, Dada's Army, GoldenSun and 19 others 1 12 6 3 Link to comment
kosingh
Obviously not. But lots of concerns about his test captaincy, and the concerns become more glaring abroad. Edited January 17, 2018 by kosingh Link to comment

Tattieboy
He wanted to be The Main Man, he managed to wangle that , he has taken this team backwards, " lost the team " as they say in Football terms and he takes the flack, no one else. It has spun out of control and only going to get worse . Somehow he needs to get those players playing as a team or step aside beetle, Kothili and GoldenSun 3 Link to comment
Forever Indian
Yes. Pujara, Ash and Jaddu being monsters in subcontinent masked most of Kohli's shortcomings. I even posted before that even if we pick random 7 Ranji performers with these three and Kohli our subcontinent results wouldn't change much. The first time when team selection and tactics become very important Kohli gets fully exposed! SecondSlip, Gollum, beetle and 2 others 3 2 Link to comment
Shunya
Definitely not the worst, but his overconfidence and arrogance might make him one if he doesn't grow up a bit. Link to comment

Sean Bradley
Calling him worst ever is a bit too harsh, but he sure has the worst temperament for a leader, angry leaders make for dictators, theres a thin line between a leader and a dictator, kohli is surely the latter, he is not a matured person, he lacks qualities of a good leader, i.e ownership, sensibility, and calmness. maniac
I will still give him a pass in tests because he is probably the best captain since Dravid when it comes to using his fast bowling resources but as a captain fielding at deep mid wicket in a crunch situation in a limited overs game is unacceptable. If he respects Dhoni as a LOI captain sure take advice...plenty of captains have done that from senior players but totally delegating responsibility is the mark of a clueless captain. In my 25 years workplace experience, as well as coaching various sports, its always- every single time- the worst temperament makes the worst leader. Leading is first and foremost about creating a culture and temperament is the thing that directly influences culture of the team. Virat isn't a leader, he is a boss. And those who know the difference, will immediately see why Virat is a toxic influence on the Indian team leadership. Gollum, Rightarmfast, Forever Indian and 4 others 3 4 Link to comment

Using resources is the only non-negative thing in his resume as a captain. And even then, he is not stellar at it, just not crap. He is utterly mentally unsuited for any leadership role and he is quickly becoming the poster-child of how not to lead. GoldenSun 1 Link to comment
