BeautifulGame Posted March 20, 2017 Posted March 20, 2017 Dinesh Karthick has been in phenomenal form in the Vijay Hazare trophy and been head and shoulders the best batsman. Also capped off with an excellent hundred in the final. So does he deserve a come back in the Indian team for Champions trophy.Particarly as the Champions trophy is in England and his technique against moving ball is excellent. Added advantage he can perform the dual back up batsman /wicket keeper role too. Should be the back up Batsman in the squad ahead of Rahane imo.
sensible-indian Posted March 20, 2017 Posted March 20, 2017 (edited) Oh God No. If there is one WK bat I get annoyed with more than Parthiv..its our Dinesh boy. Supremely talented but super inconsistent with the bat. These domestic stats are useless. This guy has been given countless chances when he would make the team in supreme form, notch up a good performance or two and then fade away only to be dropped. Then the cycle repeats again. Sidhoni Posted March 20, 2017 Posted March 20, 2017 He sure knows when to perform lol. Last time around he did well in lead up to CT and scored heavily in warmups to book his place. Actually we should get him to open with Rohit. He has opened in England in tests in the past and with Rahul, Rahane, Dhawan struggling to hold the spot he can be a good option. G_B_ and cowboysfan 2
sarcastic Posted March 20, 2017 Posted March 20, 2017 We can have Robin uthappa instead who can be a wicket-keeper as well as a batsman who can bat at any place.
maniac Posted March 20, 2017 Posted March 20, 2017 (edited) I am saying this even after learning about his origins Edited March 20, 2017 by maniac G_B_, Ankit_sharma03, sourab10forever and 1 other 4
bowl_out Posted March 20, 2017 Posted March 20, 2017 He can be the back up No.4 if Yuvi fails.. The toss up is between him and Pandey..

Texan Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 Not a fan of DK's as he seems to screw up when it matters most. He has been given sufficient opportunities at the top level and has overall delivered unsatisfactory results. I would be more interested in some other performers, in particular, K Pandya, who got some runs. Saurabh Tiwary might also be a possible candidate.
vvvslaxman Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 He is a talented batsman. But he never treated himself as a specialist batsman at the international level. He was always content with providing support role. He threw his wicket many times. Also, he is way too inconsistent. But you cannot deny he is in supreme touch. We don't have a settled one day side anyway. One last chance may be given.
Mosher Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 (edited) Very talented batsman with a wide range of shots but has a tendency for brainfarts too. He has got his chances and has not performed well. So no. We should try youngsters instead. Edited March 21, 2017 by Mosher express bowling 1
BCCI Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 I hope GL plays Ishan Kishan ahead of this guy in IPL.Time to move on.
