He takes 2 wickets per game.

So the other 3 bowlers have to take 18 wickets per game.

When you have Ashwin taking 2 wickets per game too, what you get is carnage.

Question: How to put laughing and rofl emojis? Its not there in the list but I see posters using it.

Thanks. Vilander may have used them with spaces so the emojis showed up directly.

He isn't that bad. He is an impact bowler where stats don't do full justice, also can keep one end tight to build pressure. But he should make way for Shami next test.

True he does take impact wickets but his wicket tally hasn't improved for long.

Very costly bowler to have in your team in India. Others have to be firing to make it work.

Give him a green track and I will bet you right now that he will out bowl every Aussie quick  and Indian quicks may be except Hazelwood which is debatable

You can divide Ishant's bowling at home into two halves. First is this where he averaged 28, SR 53, after 13 tests taking 46 wickets, over 3.5 wickets per match.

http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/player/236779.html?class=1;home_or_away=1;spanmax1=16+Sep+2011;spanval1=span;template=results;type=bowling

Second is this where he has 23 wickets in 15 tests at an average of 47, SR of 109, less than 2 wickets per match.

http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/player/236779.html?class=1;home_or_away=1;spanmax1=03+Mar+2017;spanmin1=16+Sep+2011;spanval1=span;template=results;type=bowling

He was a very good bowler at home once but then lost it badly and in that period of time he started doing a bit better overseas.

Where did you get that from? In both the innings of the last Test, his Economy Rate was higher than the other 3 bowlers.

He is good as a 2nd change bowler. Please dont count him as the lead bowler. He would have been a good foil for someone like Srinath, Zak. But on his own, he lacks maturity.

I think his problem is more mental and psychological than ability. In sports it happens often that while performance, you are not able to apply yourself but just go with the flow. If he can slow himself down ( as a person, not pace wise ), try to think more and think long term, he will be successful.
