G_B_ Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 Firstly like to start off by saying that this is not any attempt to troll. India were majestic yesterday. Just like many ICFers for months I looked toward to yesterday. Made plan with friends. Pictured the chicken wings in BBQ and tangy sauce. The flowing pints of beer and the occasional cheeky cider. But something happened when the line ups were announced. I did not really know a big chunk of the Pakistani team. Never heard of them. In retrospect it should not have surprised me as following updates on ICF Pakistan barely managed to qualify for the CT. Not the hallmark of a good ODI outfit. After we won yesterday, was I happy? Yes. What I over the moon happy. No. If Pakistan continues to slip in cricket the sting which this rivalry generates will be lost. Lastly, I think its high time India moved on from beating Pakistan as a barometer of how success is measured. Gollum, Rasgulla, Cricketics and 2 others 5
Vilander Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 NO. They play poorly, Sharfaraz seems to be picked up because he resembles dhoni is a wierd way a very very poor mans Dhoni. India will loose to Aus/SA even Eng if they play like this. G_B_, sandeep and Gollum 3
deathmonger Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 Not because of cricketing rivalry - more due to political problems. Beating Pakistan is like - aukaad me reh mc. velu, adi B, Vilander and 2 others 5
Cricketics Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 I must say that after every india Pak game in recent history, when we have won, every one starts to talk how boring it was and how we are way ahead and better team and that it is no fun. For me, some things don't change ever. Yes, we are better team and are always beating them easily, but still beating Pakistan always brings me smile. I always look forward to playing and beating them in a world cup. No game gives me as much satisfaction in ICC tournament as much beating Pakistan does because the build up to this game is always there. May be I think this way because I have grown up overseas and not in India, and feel connected to the country more when the ICC EVENT game of India and Pakistan is around the corner and all my sadak paar friends here are starting to discuss etc about who will win or what could happen. For me India vs Pakistan in an ICC event is always big and will always remain big. Its close to me and something I will always look forward to even though games continue to go one way. Yesterday's game ended on a boring note, but a month later I will remember that we beat Pak and not that we won a boring game. I love beating Pakistan and look forward to beating them always and will hope to do the same in 2019 In England when we meet again. It will always be special for me. chewy, Mystique_Myth, Vilander and 2 others 5

Can honestly say straight faced India have a better bowling unit than SA and England for sure. Gollum and CG 2
kubrickian Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 Its an overhyped up rivalry but usually doesnt deliver much in terms of a competition. I'm happy with the result but I expected India to win comfortably. Credit to the team because there is more pressure on them as they are expected to do well being a much better side and our performances in big tournaments against Pakistan and very little pressure on Pakistan because nobody expects them to win. If India had lost, everyone would consider it a big upset. So its not easy to have that weight on your shoulders. I think success should be judged based on the performance over a period of time like winning a big tournament and not over beating one team or the other. G_B_ and Gollum 2

I remember those games in Toronto. Came at a super perfect time in the UK. Bowler friendly wickets. Beating that Pak team meant they you were really good on the day atleast. Cricketics and Gollum 2

Our bowling was also not that great then so any win against Pak was extremely valuable then.
cricbuz Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 Off field pak captain and mickey were super chilled.i thought they were ready to beat us.but on field esp when they bat they are so lifeless.boring match yes.did i enjoy the win yes New guy 1
TNAmarkFrmIndia Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 I fell asleep halfway through Pakistan's innings. Tbh result was a foregone conclusion after India's century opening stand. Anything over 250 would've been out of Pakistan's reach as they tend to self-destruct against India in ICC events. G_B_ 1
I6MTW Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 Even Bangladesh doesn't consider beating Pakistan a big thing anymore. G_B_ 1

They dont handle pressure well in general. But some of the brainfarts in fielding and getting a spinner to bowl with the new ball were hilarious. G_B_ 1

I remember you distinctly for your love of Dhawal as I remember Sidhoni for his love of Virat, lol. Dhawal looked good couple of years back but after injury seems to have regressed a great deal, as of now I don't rate him. G_B_ 1
adi B Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 No,its not.its only satisfying, nothing more,my friends were rather intent on a minimum 100+ run win against such a mediocre side
mishra Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 Post match one of My frnd said, Pakistanis are good with Terrorism only. They should stick with that! G_B_ 1
WC2011INDIA Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 (edited) I have been saying for ages that India vs Pakistan matches at ICC tournaments for the past 4-5 years have been extremely one sided and boring. That WOW Mazaa aagya factor isn't there. Some jingoistic fools still get a kick out of these games and celebrate after getting an easy win. Edited June 5, 2017 by WC2011INDIA G_B_ 1
Haarkarjeetgaye Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 Beating is a thing but watching the game is boring G_B_ 1
Cricket_Hacker Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 If India-Pak play an ODI series,India will probably win 4-1 or 5-0 quite easily.WIll help in reducing our gap in ODI matches
