dark_profile Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 To me, cricketing skills don't matter as much as the temperament. Does he have the potential? Can we groom him as an alternative? Rasgulla and Peshust 1 1
WC2011INDIA Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 I hate saying this...but frankly....even hahane is better captain than virat. Atleast he makes some good calls and rotates the bowler fine. Whatever little captaincy I have seen of him barring that one IPL match has been pretty solid..in that match it was so obvious everyone was just pissed how he was selected as captain instead of dhoni that they didn't bother to show up... hahane, ashwin, hell..rohit..they can be better captains but these all players infuriate me. I have no respect for kohli nowadays... GoldenSun and bleaf27 1 1
I6MTW Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 (edited) Since in the coming years, Pandya might be the only regular member of the playing xi along with Kohli, along all formats of the game, and h might play in all conditions, he is the only viable captaincy option. Currently other players are either too old, going to be too young, sacked, or dropped in matches based on playing conditions. But I think Pandya might be a regular in all matches and formats since he adds depth in batting and bowling along with fielding. Edited June 19, 2017 by I6MTW tweaker 1
NameGoesHere Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 Too early to say. Give him a few more years. beetle and JaFanatic 2
Autonomous Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 Looks good as a player, But captaincy is a different thing altogether. JaFanatic 1
Laaloo Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 No he needs to get a permanent spot first and then maybe as he matures more. beetle 1
someone Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 He captained the "A" side in recent times, so certainly management rates him highly. And good to have leaders in your team. One captain and many leaders is great.
King Tendulkar Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 In 15 years time when king kohli steps down he could be an option . Till then he better just prepare to jump from 40th floor of a building if required by kohli Cricketics, sarchasm and Laaloo 2 1
Cricketics Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 Let him get settled into Indian team, once he does, one can even think about it. He has played some good cricket in this CT so deserve regular selection and be promoted but not to the captaincy level yet. Though they can surely continue to try him as captain like they did against Australia in the warm up game in Mumbai.

Tibarn Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 Hardik could be an interesting captaincy choice when he hits his prime, if he becomes established as a true all rounder. A player who bowls and bats would provide a different perspective to captaincy.
nevada Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 Angelo Mathews is doing a good job for SL. Hardik can do the same for us. Not right now, but in a year or two.
Akhand_Bharati Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 what a ridiculous statement. Pandya is another hothead who will bottle it under pressure like Virat did on sunday. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
Lannister Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 There's too much power for Kohli at the moment, to balance that out this is the right move. Give Hardik captaincy for T20 format.
