Virat Kohli opens up about Anil Kumble's resignation

Lot's of "captain speak" by Virat here. But when 2 coaches (Jennings and Kumble) leave with similar opinions of Kohli his case is weakened. When it's convenient, what happens in the dressing room stays in the dressing room.

 

But over the last few days, what happens in the dressing room hasn't exactly stayed in the dressing room. News of a "headmaster" like approach, of a "dressing-down" following the Champions Trophy defeat, of a coach talking to his players as if they were children, did not come from outside  the dressing room. They were deliberate leaks from inside dressing room to highlight issues relating to Anil Kumble. And frankly, none of these issues made Kumble look as bad as the players might have hoped. Certainly not bad enough to warrant a Kumble ouster in the way it happened.

 

If the players have more serious issues relating to Kumble than those highlighted here, they may want to speak. Because the "sanctity" Virat talks about has already been violated.

I will be surprised to see Kohli doing any "manmani" now on. CAC & BCCI will ensure that. Jumbo, Dravid, Dada, Tendu, Gavaskar, None of them are weak personalities. Kohli is walking on sword edge. Remember, if media is ro be believed, Kohli infact said he will accept Jumbo as coach despite everything, and only after that Jumbo resigned

Last I saw rohit not in test team and pujara a fixture . While pujara not in odi team and rohit is . Who would disagree with that ?

Did you read Kohli interview after semifinal against Bangladesh?

 

He pretty much said Rohit is being rested for WI b cause we need him for bigger assignments in Srilanka and SA.

Well done Kohli. Got the coach kicked out and now acting all saintly. And to try and even take a moral high ground is thug life at it's best. His fanboys are as matured as him.

And what dressing room secrets did the coach spill at all? All he said was what he heard from the authorities "That the captain was not in favor of him continuing as a coach". This was not a secret, this was the coach's reason to leave.

The reason Kohli is keeping his mouth shut is, if things were to come out in the open, it's him and his gang who would look bad. Not that they look good now, but life goes on. Had it not been Kumble, the gang and their media coterie would have started doing the character assassination of the coach already.

Lmao. "Headmaster", "Hard task master", one player getting dressing down after CT final: These inside info weren't leaked from dressing room?  The sanctity of dressing room has already been broken.And it was only partly successful since Kumble is out but kohli gathered bad press.

 

Kudos to kohli's maturity who deletes his old welcoming tweets of kumble.

 

And most importantly he has no need to speak dressing room secrets now. He has already gathered a lot of bad press and kumble is gone. So there are apparently no benefits of speaking too much and in fact dent him more if he does otherwise.

This part of Kohli's statement implies that Kumble was leaking locker room information. If that is true, he deserved to be axed. That compromises team unity.

Fair enough....let us say Kumble is leaking these reports....that should not even be a concern given the news that Kohli just went to the toss and made his own decision over riding the coach.

and yes if news keeps coming out and affects his the team performance in the next few months than definitely Kumble will look petty.

Depends on who has final say in the locker room.

If Kumble was leaking information to the media to put pressure on Kohli, wouldn't Kohli step down instead of Kumble? Is Kumble so dim-witted that after leaking all the bad things in the press, he is the one resigning???

Yes, Kumble leaked that he treated them as school kids or he lambasted all players post Pakistan loss or 9 off 11 were unhappy with Kumble. So called Dressing room "sanctity" is so phony .

Today lots of anti kumble article with some more dressing room sanctity being maintained.  Wonder who is leaking it now if kumble was accused of leaking before. Tide is against Kumble in media again. Kohli fans are delusional if they believe in fake words of kohli in press conferences.

Believe its both kumble and players being responsible for the mess. But this superstar culture is getting out of hands. Players need to take disagreement with maturity. They cannot get Coaches and commentators sacked. Heck, even a new kid like Bumrah is slowly learning the traits from these superstars. He cannot take a freaking joke. The current bunch is cowards. They cannot take any criticism. They just don't want any criticism.
