Dravid and Zaheer removed .Shastri to pick his own support staff

Recommended Posts

This is what happens when people leading BCCI are hopeless. what the heck are Vinod Rai and co doing they have turned BCCI into a joke. The supreme court had no business of interfering with BCCI , people who were clamoring about Lodha reforms need to realize those reforms had no practicality.

Unless BCCI gets its own governing body back nothing is going to change.

all this bs started when the supreme court decided to "clean" indian cricket.

Anything which this body touches turns to ****.

Before, it was clear who are the bosses. Now everybody wants to be the boss. Thus, over-stopping over their duties.....

Seems like fake news. According to cricinfo Dravid and Zaheer are consultants to the coach

consultants whom BCCI can choose to hire on a tour basis - meaning up in the air.

Should not force them on to Shaz who being head coach should get hit team - meaning he will hire whom he wants for coach role - which is fair actually - let him take the full responsibility.

This is a good development -may be even Zak and Dravid would possibly like this better.

But were they given the responsibility of choosing the assistant coaches in the first place  ?

This part is not clear.

If shahstri is made coach, he has full right to choose his support staff. What was the point of selecting Dravid and Zaheer behalf of him?

Whole thing is a circus. I am just afraid that Shahstri will be a B**** to KOhli given it is the master who got him the job and little bit value that he never had before.

Its a total clusterphuck.   Since they have the authority to appoint the coach, and they needed to do *something* to maintain credibility in the face of the obvious Shastri appointment, they went with the Dravid/Zaheer appt.    Its also fair to point out that a coach should have a say on the support staff - but can't blame the "CAC" - god I hate these stupid acronyms - for doing what they did.

The way this stupid process was handled. All they had to do was go back to Shastri after Kumble episode and negotiated a come back and he could have got his coaching staff in people would have complained about not following due process but they could have just done what they should have done after his director term, not have a eye wash selection cv's and follow due process charade when they did not intend to pick any one other than what Kohli wanted.  Making everyone look either like a biased weasel or a tool. Absolute incompetence in BCCI - they are the ones to blame for this..God they are incompetent rigd thik fools.

BCCI does u-turn on Dravid, Zaheer appointments

Rahul Dravid and Zaheer Khan were handed roles with the national team just four days ago.

The BCCI has done a u-turn on the appointments of Zaheer Khan as bowling consultant and Rahul Dravid as overseas Test batting consultant; the appointments were announced on July 11.

Now, the chairman of the committee of administrators (CoA) has said those were mere recommendations that needed action from the CoA "in consultation with the head coach". Ravi Shastri, India's new head coach, meanwhile, is set to get his own support staff as that has been decided "in consultation with the head coach already".

As for Dravid and Zaheer, yet another committee has been formed to decide if they are needed at all, and terms of engagement if they are. The committee, comprising acting BCCI president CK Khanna, secretary Amitabh Choudhary and CoA member Diana Edulji, will have a meeting with Shastri. The meeting will be convened by BCCI CEO Rahul Johri.

They were always going to be recommendations. Don't think CAC had the right to decide about bowling or batting consultants.

If they were just recommendations, why to make public then? If you check the BCCI official tweets, they use the word "appointed", not "recommended".

UPDATE: Mr. Rahul Dravid is appointed as the Batting Consultant for overseas Test tours

UPDATE: @ImZaheer is appointed as the Bowling Consultant of the India Cricket Team till ICC World Cup 2019

Now, after couple of days have passed, they are talking about availability, conflict of interest etc.

So, they have recommended/appointed Dravid and Zak without even talking to them if they were interested and if they were available?
