Rohit Sharma is the Best Captain India will never have.

Pleasantly surprised with Rohit's captaincy.

1. He's a thinking captain.

2. More importantly, he is not afraid to admit mistakes (possible ones). Eg. His SR last match within 10 overs, promoting Shankar yesterday (He was saying it could have gone either way).

3. Gives due credit to all players. Yet to be seen how he reacts when the team loses.

Not a lot of captains admit point 2. Signs of a good leader.

Lucky at best. Gets a star spangled side to lead in IPL and almost messed up the final against BD. For instance, when trundlers are getting hammered and spinners ruling, is it too hard to try Raina ? This is besides the Shankar goofup.

Did I mention his (lack of) consistency with the bat ?

That point (bolded above) is not part of the discussion here.

Yes, MI is a good side but it has been a good side since 2008 when SRT was the captain. It went to playoffs only twice in the first five years and lost the only final in 2010. The same MI team has won 3 out of 5 IPLs that he was captaining.

Sunday was a mistake in the late sending of KDK but no body would have expected Shankar to play that bad..> ( Not hitting and getting out is acceptable but eating balls in 18th over of a chase.... is yaaack).

Coming to your point, may be Raina could have been tried but you never know with BD batters. They can very easily play ordinary spinners such as Raina. I agree an over could have been given to him though.

Nothing wrong with his captaincy there, lost 2 close games which could have gone either way, We failed to capitalise on the Batting momentum, what could have been a 200 plus and 190 plus score, we threw away wickets in the end and scored less than what we could have. Rohit is still a  better white ball captain than Kohli.

His on field captaincy was never impressive despite his record. Comparison with Dhoni is laughable.

Tactically hes okay but body language is very poor. Other day he shouted at Arshdeep after drop. Even Kohli would have controlled himself
