Congrats for making a post for first time in your life that doesn't include your magic words such as "Bot,lunge, grammar and gibberish".

Question was...Name any other players other than Yuvi and Kaif who were great fielders under Ganguly.. For that you replied "

But there was whole culture shift among the youngsters coming in 2000 onwards:facepalm:

Hmmm...normally I would say 2-3 years but with the way tech is evolving sooner hopefully...you will comprehend.

Correct. Idiots keep on repeating Sehwag, Yuvi, Dhoni, Zak, Bhajji, etc debut under Ganguly and put him on pedestal for building a team.

Yeah on one hand people cry Mumbai lobby the moment they see Rohit and Rahane fail and on other occasions it is because of Dhoni’s captaincy...which one is it?

The only guy Dhoni backed who was a success is Jadeja and I am willing to bet don’t think even Dhoni imagined he would be no.1 test bowler in the world :cantstop:

He backed him in LOIs constantly and he ended up costing us more games than he actually won.

:phehe: usual Gibberish.. when you can't backup retarded points you make..

Don't bother using "e.t.c" when you clearly know they were only 2 Good fielders under Ganguly compared to Dhoni we had 9 to 10 :hehe:  Reality is Dhoni got rid of slow fielders and replaced them with good fielders. Like Ankit said

Yea right. Kohli should have been dropped before Aus series. Rohit should have been kept on bench forever or continued to bat him in middle order in ODIs all his life. Ashwin should have never picked, bloody CSK/Srini mama pick. How can he pick him over bhajji, mishra, etc. Vijay(another CSK pick), Pujara should have never been given chances above all tried and tested seniors. Hacks like Dhawan should have never been given a chance, there were so many deserving candidates in domestics. Bhuvi a trundler should have been discarded on watching itself like how people are talking about Gurbani. He hated fast bowlers, his fingers were hurting behind the wickets - why the * he was playing fast bowlers like Yadav, Shami in the XI. They should have just sat on bench or never selected like how we see currently with Kohli.

Unfortunately for you, all of these guys are still playing.

But but ganguly was the beshttest. He instilled fearless attitude. He build All time great players and must have taught them everything. Sehwag, Yuvi, Zak, Bhajji were all poor players but Ganguly turned them into ATGs. What a captain!!! Wow.

His luck ran out once the seniors retired. Previously, they could keep him in line but once he took complete control, well you know the drunken monkey part.

That's true.. He started getting whitewashed in Eng,Aus when seniors especially that 1 guy overstayed.. Once he got rid of them/him. He won a match at Lord's and Could drew in RSA,NZ,Aus series with very young squad:phehe:

We won CT2013 straight away when he got rid of seniors:hehe: Did it with 2007WC before..

lol. WC win is rare thing in cricket. It is the one of the biggest achievement in our cricketing history. Just because Dhoni was WC winning captain, now you will downplay WCs. We know your bias, atleast try a bit to be neutral man.

Kapil dev was great and so is Dhoni. Legends :adore:

India were overwhelming favourites...anything less than a victory would have been seen as a failure...now compare that to Kapil's 1983 achievement, no comparison

It's pretty simple.

Try answering these questions and you will understand.

What did Ganguly achieve in his ODI career which any other decent Indian captain couldn't have achieved?

1. More than 1 final victory - easily.

2. Better than 30% series win - most likely

3. Home wins not just against Zimbabwe - could have fluked 1 series for sure

4. Better win loss ratio - year considering that it was lowest among all good captains, there was no going down.

Think of same question for Dhoni

1. More than 60% series wins - can't say for sure. One has to be very good to increase that.

2. World cup - we already know the answer.

3. 7 finals - some very good captains could do that, not every decent captain.

Ganguly had Dinesh Mongia and Kaif playing for him in ODI cricket. Ganguly did not have the luxury of a wk/bat like Dhoni himself. Ganguly did not have a clutch player like Gambhir. Ganguly had Zak as the spearhead who was terrible then.  Ganguly had Sehwag who averaged in low 30s as opener in that period. Ganguly had Yuvraj who averaged under 30 till 2005. Ganguly had to rebuild a team from scratch after fixing saga when several of regular players got banned.  Border as not as successful a captain as say Ponting and Steve Waugh but a lot of people still consider him a greater captain than them because he did the same, rebuild a team.  Dhoni carried forward a pretty settled team he got after Dravid resigned.

That's the point. Even if we assume that his team wasn't as good as Dhoni's team, did he have worst team among all other captains?

Batsman A averages 10 in a series where pitches are little bit helpful to bowlers.

Batsman B averages 100 in a series where pitches are batsman friendly.

It's like comparing both players and saying that A averaged 10 only because pitch was slightly difficult to bat on when in fact most good batsman do better than averaging 10.

But it is not very likely that A will average 100 on better pitch.

I agree with most of these reasons. In my book, Ganguly is slightly better than Dhoni in ODIs and more so in Tests.
