How? In test cricket, it is about how much of partnership did Maharaj create since the drop. Score was 202/6 when Maharaj was dropped. When he got out, the score was 258/7. So effectively Dhawan's ghee hands costed 56 runs. His contribution is -40 runs.

You could understand how much damage Gabbar did damage to his own team. Now he's gone in the 1st innings as well, so you can't expect any positive contribution from him except twirling his moustache.
