Well the problem is that the solution to throw them off their line seems to be ramp shots and lofted inside out shots...as much as Pandya was entertaining in the first test, the fact he attempted a ramp shot while trying to save the game shows his cricket awareness.

Cant just single him out but what happened to the brains of our batsmen...pakistani level of batting today.

Pandya did the same in the dharamshala odi. Came down the crease and attempted a ramp shot I think or he came down the crease and tried to get the bat out of the way the last moment

Well, he is our no 3 batsman. No matter how much pressure we put on him, no 3 batsman of any team will always be in firirng line.

He can't be so limited in his game play. He is not Dravid-esque player. He is becoming Akash Chopra type limited player overseas.

How has his game evolved in last 3-4 years? Can anyone point this out? What has he added his batting or change/improvements tried by him so far?

Such players bat at no 5 or 6 in cricket teams. They don't bat at most important position in test cricket.

Well for what it’s worth,he tried to “rotate the strike” by taking quick singles or trying to conver 2s into 3s :giggle:

He was doing great until after the SA series last time. He failed in Aus when Kohli captained the 2 tests and Kohli has doubts about hiim. He thinks #3 player should bat aggressively. He tried to get BeSharma in place of Pujara and ever since Pujara has doubted himself. He has redeemed himself in the SL tour last time, but everytime he fails Kohli has blamed his slow batting. A similar narrative was also played around Dravid/Sachin as well. People believed that Sachin failed sometimes because of Dravid's slow batting.

Pujara has scored faster, but he is down on confidence now. Need a good Psychologist to break his shackles, but we have a bewada for a coach.

Prithvi Shaw could be a good replacement, but I still feel Pujara is good atleast better then the likes of Dhawan, Rohit etc.

Under this regime Prithvi Shaw's confidence and career will be destroyed within no time. He and  other new talents should be picked only after Kohli's resignation(which he should, after clean sweep is completed in this series).

Notice how Pujara allows bowers to bowl a lot of deliveries on outside off

There are like 8-10 deliveries on pitching within stumps for him.

Pitch map for even Bhuvi was more spread

Pandya

Rohit Sharma did the same thing when he went into that 59 balls 11 runs inning

Both of them allowed bowlers to bowl too much at same line and length most of the time.

The ball was doing too much on that morning.I would not blame them.

a cycle of abroad tours has been badly influenced by this 'one down' mediocre.Such a vital position  of 'being a bridge between openers and middle order stroke players' getting possessed by such a waste player. And then we wonder as to why we get thrashed in abroad tours.  Frankly I always always wanted this guy  gradually  get dropped out of the team by team management gradually grooming some promising highly talented youngsters. Now he has himself made it easy.

Che also struggled in county, even Ashwin outscored him handily in same no of matches. And mind you Ash was promoted up the order a few times and the team depended on him, so no excuse for Pujara.

What’s ur opinion about hanuma vihari similar player like Pujara but has an average of almost 60 in FC, also bats at no:3 . Could he be a better prospect overseas than pujara?

Haven't seen his batting, now that you mentioned may check out when he bats. Unfair to comment on a player I haven't seen live.

What an absolutely pathetic cricketer, you have to be a really big chewtiya to run yourself out twice in the same match the most overrated cricketer by far

clown of a player...india would have won this test if he had scored a 70-80 runs on that flat pitch.

Anderson to Pujara, OUT, run out.. a run out. Would you believe it? Seems like this may have been Kohli's mistake. And it's the most innocuous delivery to get out to. A straight length ball that Pujara taps to point. They think of a quick single. Kohli is responsive. Takes off full speed. And then stops and turns back and Pujara is left stranded

Kohli sold him down the river..crazy stuff. Pujara hesitated, saw Kohli charging down , so he made a dash for it, kohli stops in the middle and sees Pujara running down, still he turns back and both are running to the same end now, pujara slows down and is sad. Totally Kohli's fault, if he had ran fast, probably would have made it. dimag mein ghoos bhara huwa tha iska.
