Lol Rohit Sharma will score a 300 against the same Srilankan attack. Point being don’t take srilankan series seriously. Also Dravid , Tendulkar and Laxman has poor series too in their careers they didn’t get dropped. Here we are not playing our best batsman on the last tour that’s plain stupidity.

It is well documented that Rahane is not great at home, but very good abroad. So why drop him abroad based on not scoring in a series at home. If same yardstick was to be applied Kohli looked like Pig Sh!t in the home Aus series and averaged 9, so why was he not dropped in next series?

I'll break this down and then stop responding. Because either you guys don't seem to understand justification for selections or just wanna rant for the sake of it. 

Maybe Bunty influences selection, but until we have proof of said interference, I'll just assume selections are made on form, gut instincts and team balance.

 

Rahane was in dire form in the last series. It is fair to assume he's going through a rough patch and it makes sense to have him sit out.

Yes one can say he's performed well abroad, so he should automatically play. But on that basis, MSD should play forever because he's delivered in the past, ignore him not performing to the same level currently. Current form should definitely be one of the biggest factors in selection. 

But the point is, you make a call based on a number of factors, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Either way, there was valid justification for not playing Rahane.

Second Innings runs are valuable as gold when it comes to setting a target. He did what he did in Dharmasala, come in and bat hard in the last innings. Glad he was picked over Rohit who had a useless 47 also in the second innings. Grit and class is more important than form shown in India. It goes the same for Dhawan as well.

On the other hand we had Rohit Sharma struggling to understand what to do - whether to defend or attack.

that was not a difficult pitch. that was the flattest pitch in that series and both Kohli and Rahane who were missing whole series on turners, scored runs there. That pitch was not a turner, had no bounce. only reverse swing was available.
