Switchblade
Quote https://www.crictracker.com/mike-brearley-fears-virat-kohli-might-end-authoritarian/ I love watching him [Kohli] play cricket. He is a very intelligent captain and has a tremendous presence on the field. But he has so much charisma, articulacy and authority that there’s a danger of him becoming authoritarian,” he said. He [Kohli] has got to have the capacity to tell people what to do. But if you become too authoritarian, then you are not open to other points of view. Becoming too influential can also mean that people are scared of giving you the opinion and then you don’t gather in. You need to have 11 captains in the team, just that you have to be the in-charge,” he added. tweaker, sandsaims, GoldenSun and 2 others 1 1 3 Link to comment

Popular Post Khota
He is already authoritarian. Power has gone to his head when he got Kumble replaced and surrounded himself with yes man like Shastri. No good will come out of making this man captain of all 3 formats. sandsaims, Turning_track, Soorma_Bhopali and 7 others 3 7 Link to comment

gattaca
Captain is authoritarian. He is the leader he should get what he wants. That’s how leadership works. Even in corporate world that’s how it works. GolGappe 1 Link to comment
Temujin Khaghan
Authoritarian captains like Clive Lloyd, Steve Waugh are the two greatest test match captains in the world. It's just English culture hates heroes whohave too much power and influence. If anyone reaches a Demi-god position in the public imagination, they will quickly bring him down, like with Churchill. Do you agree @YCCC? UrmiSinhaRay 1 Link to comment
beetle
Authoritarian works if you are great leader and captain. Not when you are kohli. zen, saik and UrmiSinhaRay 1 2 Link to comment

Do you agree @YCCC? Steve Waugh was not a great captain. He had an outrageous ly good team to play with and when the going got tough like it did at Eden gardens 2001 , he was completely clueless. Mark Taylor was a much better captain and firm but not authoritarian. Ditto with Lloyd. When you get to captain that West Indies quartet, greenidge, Haynes,Viv - you don't need to be tactically that great. UrmiSinhaRay 1 Link to comment
putrevus
Let steve waugh or Clive Lloyd captain these spineless batsmen and we will see what kind of results they will get.Brearley is most overated captain. UrmiSinhaRay 1 Link to comment
speedheat
Authoritarian or power hungry say whatever you want but he can't bat for these midget chokers. If our batters had shown little application we would have won the series, first match was so so crucial for moral of the team all we needed was at least one batter to show some spine and support kohli. He gets out to ordinary spinners like ali and rashid. Even in the last test the partnership was broken because he first got out and not rahane then the slide started.
