Karthik or Jadhav at number 6 in ODIs?

Kedar is in a different league altogether as far as his batting is concerned..he is way better than Karthick.

So it boils down to his fitness..if he can be truly fit then he should play.

Rohit had the right idea,hold Karthik back as late as possible to get the best out of him

In today's game he came in at the right time,maybe last match he should have come in after Jadeja

DK is not a reliable bat for longer periods. May be he is good for little cameos.  Gill should be playing in place of him.

Karthik's scoring ability in the last 10-15 is quite underrated. Replace Rayudu with Jadhav and maybe push Dhoni upto 4 with Jadhav at 5. 

 

Once Pandya is back, there will be enough hitting variety in the team.

Agarwal or Pant.We desperately need a left hander in middle order and an accelerator.Since dhoni can't be deposed anymore need to take pant as batsman.Kedar or mayank can be backup with gill replacing rayudud.

Since they hv decided to go with these players than best will be putting dhoni at 4, Jadhav at 5, kartik at 6 and hardik at 7.

He is past 33. Has injury issues and faces cramps in middle of batting innings as well. Has to be handled properly and by that i mean he should be used at 6 rather than a long innings builder at 4 and 5 (not that he cannot play a long innings). The purpose being to ensure he lasts throughout the world cup 2019 as he gives the 6th bowling option as well. Losing him to injury will create a weakness in the team. If the team is in good position like 275/2 in 40 overs, then he needs to be promoted over both Dhoni and Rayudu. Whereas if the team has lost top order in 5 - 10 overs, then risking him to bat for 45 overs increases probability of a injury prone player to catch hamstring or cramps again.

 

It would be a better strategy to immediately play his replacement in next LOI series post the world cup though. If the player cannot be optimally used, then it's a negative for the team given that each and every player is required to take good workload.
