Straight Drive
The way he is scoring in last two years, he will not top score unless there is a massive change of form this series. It's a very big ask. At the most 350 runs. I don't see him having a big series of 500 or 600+ runs like Virat Kohli, Alaistair Cook did in Australia. Far away from that form. Link to comment

PBN
Rahane is such an underachiever. Started his Ranji and international career with with a bang. Should be averaging 50+ but his lingering at 40. Anyhow, Australia is a good hunting ground for with...has done really well here. Edited December 13, 2018 by PBN Link to comment

Vk1
Rahane and Siddhesh lad should swap their places very soon in respective teams. Link to comment
Tendulkar1996
And as i predicted early in the thread, rahane has shown his true colours after his quota innings.Needs to be dropped asap for gill. But we know thats never going to happen.Incoming statement from team management - 'we all know his class'. chewy
opportunity was there for Rahane today, but went into a shell, trying to play a "Pujara" type innings, but Pujara is good enough tackle those "ball with your name on it". The first deadly bouncer at Rahane from Starc and Rahane got out. Real McCoy 1 Link to comment

But barring Sydney, the rest of the tracks are not going to be anywhere near as helpful to Lyon. And I saw enough in Rahane's batting to get this gut feeling. I think he's going to end up as the top scorer for the series. dont you think you over rate a bang average performer. "Gut feeling" , "going to end up as top scorer" these thoughts makes sense for someone like Virat, AB or even Sachin level players , not for the likes of Rahane. Mind you I say that keeping his infamous inconsistency in mind. Edited January 3, 2019 by SK_IH Real McCoy 1 Link to comment

sandeep
I love Rahane, but the rope can only extend so far. I don't know what's gotten into him. Real McCoy 1 Link to comment
Real McCoy
He plays at the easiest position in the batting order that too behind Pujara and Kohli. Adelaide 1st innings coming to bat at 3 for nothing, plays with "intent" and throws his wicket away. 2nd innings plays well but throws it away by playing a reverse sweep rather than shepherding the tail and increase the target to a better position. Perth 1st innings edges to a straight ball from Lyon rather than marching down the wicket like Pujara before the second new ball and exposing Vihari in his first innings. Actually Vihari played better in that test than Rahane. 2nd innings plays with "intent" and throws his wicket away. Melbourne out to a straight ball from Lyon rather than marching down the wicket like Pujara. 2nd innings coming to bat at 3 for nothing, plays a lackluster pull shot to be caught behind. Then this. What does it take to drop him. It has been 6-7 years since he debuted and is considered a senior and VC. When questioned about his form, he answers saying he is due a 200. Is he for real or is he smoking those funny cigarettes Edited January 3, 2019 by Real McCoy Link to comment
rtmohanlal
Very surprise that a batsman who achieved such great numbers in SENA in his first outings has regressed this much. But then the game is like that... these unexpected things can happen. Now we need to move on from him , because it seems to be a permanent regressive problem for him. Also we have other promising players coming up Link to comment

True ,actually pant looked pretty assured when batting normally ,it was only when he was given instructions to hoick or when batting with the tail ,he goes for wild shots and gifts his wkts Link to comment
