Is Umesh really that great strike bowler?

Can't stop run flow, can't bat. Has to be really great strike bowler to get a place over Jadeja and Bhuvi.

 

If Bhuvi and Jajeja are expected to be 1-50 with ball and 20 with bat, probably captain expected Umesh to take 1-15 (in 3 overs, given his economy rate). Anything worse than that will be waste of space.

i think fitness cloud over Bhuvi has made TM play Yadav.  he is a waste overseas.  he should just play at home.

Bhuvi is one of the most capable bowlers overseas and brings a different dimension to the attack with his control, swing and economy.

 

Yadav is brainless but his ability to bowl long spells on dead low pitches makes him an asset at home. Outside India he is a brainless bowler who gives opposition batsmen pace to work with.

how many test did Bhuvi played in England? How many times has he been out due to injury since then? he has been struggling to last ODIs recently.  You never want to play half fit players.  look at Ashwin, he played half fit in England and struggled, again out injured.  Bhuvi should have been given a chance to prove his fitness in ranji trophy before being picked.

Umesh Yadav averages 27.97 at home after 24 tests while averages 41 overseas after 17 tests but there are sutiyas in selection committee and TM that they cant differentiate in formats, home or overseas difference.

Injuries to fast bowlers is not a new phenomenon!

 

The task is workload management which sometimes BCCI management is completely inept at. His injuries aren't due to a lack of personal discipline or work ethic! The guy has picked up pace and has only looked stronger from his debut days.

 

The problem lies with both the captain and the team management. Kohli wants the likes of Bumrah and Bhuvi in pointless bilateral odi series when they need to be rested for the test games.

 

Then what we get is a second strung bowler like Yadav is abroad then stepping in as a replacement in tests, where is the friggin logic?!If Bhuvi is fit and bowling he should be picked over Yadav anyday!

he is a  proven mediocre spray gun.... avg:ing  34 after playing 41 tests.Any  body with at least a bit of sense will not take him especially in abroad matches.

The only scenario where Umesh can be a strike bowler is when it reverses. Otherwise he has no control to make use of any conditions.
