2nd session India will lose Vihari lose his wicket adding 22 more runs in 54 balls (total 74 runs in 200 balls). Pant will face 18 in 42 balls with Aussies bowling tight line after lunch. India 231/6 with 4 byes post lunch (Vihari 74(200), Pant 72(135)).

 

43 overs in day 5, 47 left, 4 wickets left and 56 to get. 

 

Pant will hit 20 runs more and get out on 94, leaving India at 256/7. Ishant will be at 7 and Aus will need 3 more while defending 31. 

 

Yadav and Ishant will stitch partnership of 20 runs and Yadav will be run out.

let them play positively in their own methods, Pant attacking, Vihari his natural game...... would only benefit the team  in the long run. We would get a very good keeper & a solid reliable 6th position batsman who can role his arm  over  to even pick wkts when conditions favour him.So let them learn and develop from the experience.

One of them which can happen is that Pant going absolutely bezerk in the first spell of Aussie bowlers. Hitting Starc and Co left and right. There is a chance of this happening with his stroke play  and that putting them on the backfoot.

We have typically folded under these circumstances.  But as a fan I keep dreaming scenarios like yours every time we are chasing in the 4th innings, especially on foreign soil.  He will do this, he will do that, he will attack, he will grind them, he will shepherd the tail, he will hit the winning four ... been doing it for decades now.  Will do it again tonight/tomorrow - what's the harm?

Of his 3 innings so far, this one upset me the least. It's always easy to criticize him when he gets out playing a big shot. I guess he should have aimed for a straighter hit, but that's the way it goes when you go to hit big against a slow bowler.
