Imagine this,

One of them which can happen is that Pant going absolutely bezerk in the first spell of Aussie bowlers. Hitting Starc and Co left and right. There is a chance of this happening with his stroke play  and that putting them on the backfoot.

If this happens, Imagine, India could be 180-5  by 20th over of first session. That is just around 100 run shot.

Imagine being Tim Paine that time. truing to shufffle the bowlers and also wondering how to to save 100 runs. He will be in same position as India werr in the first test.

Just Imagine.

There is a chance.

If we had lost one fewer wicket, and had a tail that could do better than 4/20 - while batting, not bowling - then maybe.

First innings was the time to score those runs - 43 run lead is a lead balloon.

I was a bit upset by pants wicket. I think eventually he will learn but that was not a safe percentage shot. Umesh was playing Cummins and starc better than our openers at the other end. And they were playing very well. If pant showed a bit more maturity, we at least could have scored 20 more runs if not more. But alas.

Even Yesterday Rahane was flaying at every ball. Pant was hoicking on legside with 3 fielders on the legside boundary. Sure, attacking is the way to go on this pitch as there is no chance of survival given what a minefield it is. However there is no just middle ground with these guys.

@Cricketics Pant almost got out 2-3 times yesterday with his so called brave strokeplay.

Right now will really elevate him if he shuts down shop and shows some fight tomorrow. Throwing your bat around is the easy way out. That’s why Rahane’s knock was terrible yesterday.

You don’t get it. He shoudln’t go from ball one. I want him to play positive and use Vihari’s mindset to win this game. Vihari bats on one end and rotate and find thenodd boundary and Pant play few fashy strokes along with rotation. Play with brain. We can be near 180-5 in no time, and just would be needing around 100 then.

Ok then might as well hope that these guys can knock those runs as well.

I don’t trust 8-11 getting even 15-20 runs altogether. So you are saying that these 2 rookies need a partnership of over 160 runs on this minefield? Stranger things have happened in cricket but the conviction with which you say this as a realistic scenario is what is amusing

The only scenario is that by the time I reach office by 9:45 AM,the match would be gone, presentations would be on and Kohli would be making excuses - " Bla Bla Bla..bowlers tried hard,it happens..bla..more bla" Bewda would get a day off to booze and party and most importantly,I can concentrate on work.straight away.:two_thumbs_up:
