Switchblade Posted December 26, 2018 Posted December 26, 2018 Quote https://www.hindustantimes.com/cricket/india-vs-australia-ashwin-can-t-get-injured-so-many-times-on-big-tours-sourav-ganguly/story-iRk7c6jQ0UvS2yrK9RbmaJ.html “Ravichandran Ashwin is worrying me now. He can’t be the premier spinner and get injured so many times on big tours: England, South Africa and now Australia. The team needs him against left-handers, he is not doing his reputation any good,” wrote Ganguly. The visitors missed Ashwin dearly in the second Test in Perth when they witnessed Nathan Lyon take 8 wickets in the match. However, Ganguly still believes that India can win the series. “The series is still wide open. I have said before that India can win it and I believe the same now. The start will be crucial. The toss will be critical, too, as both the teams don’t chase very well.” Since India finished Day 1 of the Melbourne Test at 215/2 after opting to bat at the toss, they will be certainly optimisting about their chances of taking a 2-1 lead in the four-match series. beetle 1
gattaca Posted December 26, 2018 Posted December 26, 2018 We need to move on from Ashwin doesnt look like a long term option. The injury can hold him back from putting more effort in to his deliveries.
sandeep Posted December 26, 2018 Posted December 26, 2018 Hip and groin injuries tend to become chronic. Unfair to blame the player for that. Bowling is such a physical task, you'd think former players would appreciate such basic facts. I don't like Ashwin much as a character, but he is a gun bowler and deserves to be respected.

Then may be rest him for sometime and have another option as well. Kuldeep has been on sidelines may be ask to him to get ready.

Cricketics Posted December 26, 2018 Posted December 26, 2018 Ashwin needs to improve probabaly his work ethic and probably take a cue from fitter bowlers like Umesh Yadav in that aspect. Groin pain means you are just not warming up correctly or exercising properly and consistently. Doing your exercise for few days just to take care of the injury will only result in partial comebacks and will still end up coming back. Its not like Ashwin has a massive knee injury which basketball players have to decide their career about. Proper execise routine soing with passion can evade such injuries easily. You got to push yourself and make it a habit and not just exercise when you feel injured. Make it a daily routine.

vvvslaxman Posted December 26, 2018 Posted December 26, 2018 Jadhav, Ashwin, Bhuvi injury masters now. So bad that Shami looks less injury prone. Jadhav always picks up injury during the middle of the match lol That is even worse diehardpacer, flamy and Frustrated 1 2

Wasn't lame at all. If Gibbs can take potshots at Ashwin, then he is fair game as well for a comeback. And 'humour' is subjective. Ash put Gibbs rightly in his place. That pothead needs to stick to pimping bullshit energy drinks.

Ashwin is known to get touchy man, he is sensitive id you have seen earlier. Nothing wrong but I habe noticed it. Sometimes you just got to play along. Virat was the same too as a kid when he first came and we see in that video where he is cursing some guy in the crowd during IPL game when he was heading up the stairs to the dressing room.

They are all human beings with different brought up.Not everbody is a monk like Dravid. Even Dravid shows his emotions at times. I won't worry too much about Ashwin's reaction against Gibbs. Level of friendship determines what you can say to another guy. APparently Gibbs, Ashwin were not really friends, buddies. I wouldn't joke about physical ability of even my best friend casually let alone some acquaintance. You cannot say whatever you want to anybody you want. Hope it is a lesson for Gibbs. sandeep 1

I don't disagree - in fact I'm not at all a fan of Ashwin's 'attitude'. But in the Gibbs case, he handled it well.

Yes, Inzi was a hot head. I remember right after that toronot incident you mentioned, he came to Delhi to play against India where Kumble took 10fer. We were chanting “aloo alloo” all day and whole Delhi crowd grilled him all 4 days and he was realy angry and wanted to hit someone up. Akram used to go with him back to dressing room during tea or lunch break when players were getting off the field to get to the room, because Akram thought Inzi will get mad and lose his cool and hit someone like he did in Toronto. Akram shared this detailed story in documentry too which was made for that two match Epic test series where Tendulkar and Saqlain were brilliant uptill Kumble took that 10fer. diehardpacer and sandeep 1 1
singhprakash72 Posted December 26, 2018 Posted December 26, 2018 You don't have to be genius to see Ashwin's fitness level is pretty ordinary. He was probably 60% in the 2 tests played in England and on last day in Adelaide he looked like less than 50% fit, just using his fingers to toss the ball. That he was able to bowl so many overs is a miracle but he won't last more than 2 yrs if he continues. On paper he is a better bowler than Moen Ali and Gary but he was clearly overshadowed by them recently. diehardpacer 1
Muloghonto Posted December 26, 2018 Posted December 26, 2018 Hip injuries are usually devastating for almost all sports. Its the one injury that can turn an elite athlete into an alsoran overnight. Groin injuries are very touchy - i've had them before and its the one injury that isn't too big of a deal in the long term but ends up being a chronic 'niggle' for a lot of people due to the nature of the muscle and its injury. Once you pull your groin, you will know. Its the 'nothing is wrong, no pain, no pain' as you move your leg and then BAM...at one exact angle/gait, it feels like you have no legs and shooting pain. Then it heals and you give it weeks and move it all around and put weight on it and its fine and then 2 weeks later, one mis-step and BAM, its back. diehardpacer, sandeep and Switchblade 1 2
ShoonyaSifar Posted December 26, 2018 Posted December 26, 2018 With the next Test scheduled in July in WI, best to start giving Kuldeep the full series. Let Ashwin rest /get proper treatment done from now onwards till as long as he needs to feel better.
