Gollum
@maniac garu is right. Whilst Rohit hardly came near justifying his Himalayan reputation, he was clearly better than at least 4-5 Indian cricketers on display today. At the start of the innings did any of us even think we would get near their score? After Dhawan fell it was up to Rohit to stay till the end, he failed but at least was involved in a couple of significant partnerships along the way. Our line up has too many players who saturate with lowish scores, a 30/2 situation could have easily become 80/6. When a player like Rohit is out there, because of his aura the opponent team remains nervous and the captain holds back the best bowlers for the latter part of the innings...this allows others to enjoy the hospitality of the 4th, 5th and 6th bowlers and get their eyes in. Also because of the reputation of the big player the batsman at the other end flows under the radar and can launch a few surprises...basic psychology and common sense. In the 1979 WC F, when WI were reduced to 4/90 there was an ATG partnership between King Viv and a nobody called Collis King...do check out and tell me who was the aggressor in that partnership and who was the anchor. No basis to incessantly whine about his anchor role when our RR was maintained at 10+ with 7 wickets in hand because game was always in control, ideally Rohit would have gone ballistic in the last 6 overs but failed. Sure his SR may not look good, he himself would agree. But singling him out as the biggest mujrim for today's result is a logical fallacy. And this was a one-off failure, there are others like Dadu for whom failure is a har roz ki kahani, note the difference and don't forget who is really holding this team's potential back. Rohit scores 38 runs which bumped the score down. Not calling a great knock but how can people not see the difference. Had he got out for 0(1) the middle order had to stitch together 38 more runs and given all of them are cameo players that is more of an uphill task. Clearly the hate towards Rohit is agenda driven Rohit has the capability to go from ball one. He just chose not to since he will at max score 30s on average with such approach. Now building an innings may make sense in ODIs but in T20s? I will take a quick fire 30 than an anchored 50 from an opener. SK_IH 1 Link to comment
maniac
Apparently 2(4) is a great selfless innings that didn’t impact teams cause. I initially thought it was fun trolling but it had reached an unbelievable amount of seriousness Edited February 10, 2019 by maniac beetle, The Hound and Laaloo 2 1 Link to comment

Why are you sounding as if Kohli lost some tournaments. If India stopped playing bits and pieces players they will more matches and tournaments. They are problem not the Kohli's captaincy. R!TTER
First of all Kohli isn't giving up on captaincy & Sharma isn't getting LOI Captain just by minnow bashing (SL or WI) or bilateral records. He has to do better than Kohli with the bat & Kohli has to do worse, also India has to lose under Kohli consistently before Sharma is even considered a replacement. Any of those possibilities are unlikely in the next year or two, I bet Sharma goes downhill faster & earlier than Kohli ever will. manu4411, Adi BB and Jimmy Cliff 3 Link to comment

It wasn’t a good innings by any stretch but calling it the sole reason for losing the game by 4 runs when 2 main players got out for 7(9) balls to put pressure is a little extreme. bowl_out
Can be debated either way.. He could have trusted Krunal who was striking it just as well.. On the other hand, there isn't a who lot of difference between 14 off 3 and 13 off 3... Split second decision where Karthik backed himself to get 14 off 3 vs Krunal getting 13 off 3.. Either way, the match was lost by the guys who played 38(32) and 2(4) Link to comment
asterix
Don’t take this series seriously. This was a “give & take” series... You take ODIs, we take the T20s... The pie chucker KruPa becoming MoM in the second match was the indicator. He’s a rank pie chukar...he shouldn’t be in the team... Rohit showed his MI bias to give full series to KruPa... Rohit sucked as captain in this series... pretty mediocre team selection, not utilising Shankar’s bowling. Persisting with pretty mediocre Khalil, who’s a pathetic fielder too. I was hoping for Kaul to play in place of him... If you are experimenting in this series why give full series to those mediocre players like KruPa & Khalil full series while KeJa and Kaul sitting on bench? Dhoni as a WK gives you crucial wickets. His lightning stumping saved India otherwise would’ve been chasing a much bigger score... To me Rohit looks a compromised individual... He can win or lose as per demand without raising any eyebrows... Edited February 11, 2019 by asterix Gollum, SK_IH, Laaloo and 2 others 5 Link to comment

He is mentally fatigued. Why did he even take part in T20 games. Not like we have world T20 coming up. FIrst of all what is the point o T20 series. Rohit is too rigid in his bowling plans ..the momenthe saw the likes of Pandya brothers, he should have tried Shankar or some alternate. I also do not understand why he also tries rolling his arm considering that he has got two IPL hat-tricks. Adi BB 1 Link to comment
