Just with PoK, Pakistan has successfully cut us off Afghanistan and got over $60 Billion CPEC rental(Investment) and rising.

this is one of the biggest blunders.

Imagine giving up land border with (Afg) Russia. With that the question of Russia not getting afg and USSR disintegrating would not have happened. India might have been a socialist bastion and USSR would still be a superpower.  Biggest blunder by Nehru - the agent.

But what is the point of fighting a war for traitor land that is costing us so much money and so many lives? 2 soldiers from my state Bengal (aged 27 & 29) just died in Pulwama attack and they were showing the condition of their parents in local news.

its not like fighting for a front seat spot in a bgrade movie. its a strategically important province and no Indian government shall give up.

What is your suggestion, give up Kashmir - then what ?

On Kashmir by Ira Pande.

'Kashmir is an integral part of India'. I have heard this line parroted by leaders of all political hues.
Recently I came across facts that have changed my perspective on Kashmir totally.

Facts that have astounded me. But more than that baffled me, for they reveal glaring lacunae in the history we have been led to believe is true.

Understandable that the British established a syllabus designed to obliterate our glories and inculcate shame in us for all things Indian.

But, 70 years post-independence, we are still guilty of toeing their line.
The facts I speak of are proof that Kashmir is the fountainhead from which flows our culture, in fact, everything that defines our identity as Indians.

I had no clue at all about the significance of Kashmir vis a vis Indian history and that it was home to Panini, whose

*Ashtadhyayi* is considered the most *scientific and flawless treatise on grammar* in the world..
*Sharangdev, considered the father of both Hindustani and Carnatic music.*
*Acharya Abhinav Gupt*, one of the greatest scholars of all times, *who wrote 46 literary classics,* including the renowned Abhinav Bharti.. *His principles of Ras are being taught in 80 universities around the world.*
*Kashmir was considered the abode of Saraswati, the highest seat of learning in India* and was also referred to as Sharda Peeth. So much so that *when students graduated from Kashi, they took 4 symbolic steps towards Kashmir, denoting their aspiration for higher learning.*

Almost the *entire body of Sanskrit literature* has its origins in Kashmir.
Rajtarangini, an authoritative *historical tome on the royal lineage of Kashmir,* written by Kalhans in the 12th century, outlines the greatness of *King Lalitaditya,* possibly the most powerful Indian Emperor of all times, whose *kingdom in the 8th century extended* from the Caspian Sea in the North to the Kaveri basin in the South, and included Assam in the East.
*How many Indians* have even *heard his name???*

How many of us know that *Srinagar* was *established by Ashoka ?*

That *Mahayana Buddhism was spread* across Mid Asia, China and Japan *by Kashmiri monks?*
Who are these *educationists* who are *deliberately withholding such vital slices* of history from our textbooks?
How will the present as well as future generations realize that *Kashmir is the keystone of our heritage* through millennia, finding mention even in our oldest scriptures?

*It is not just a piece of land. It is the abode of the soul of India*.
*"Kashmir is an integral part of India" now has a new meaning for me. It is no longer a statement, but an impassioned understanding of its importance.*??

Saw this on FB, not sure how true he info is.

Don't spread rumours. A few dissenting voices doesn't equate to "seccessionist movements" and in the case of Punjab, that's entirely outside India in palces like Canada (funded by Pak).

South India? I can guarantee Telangana will never ever be part of such a movement.

Replace Kashmir with any state/region facing insurgency.

Such a question only reflects the coward mindset. Not attacking the OP, but if well read personalities present this POV then that reflects the problem in either them or the society.

We should learn from history of strong & prosperous nations. USA had a bloody civil war where 11 big states seceded from the Union. Did the North just give in ? * no, they fought till the southern army was smashed and this went on for 4 years.

Hitchens has mentioned that the first war on terror happened as far back as 1804! The middle East/African kingdoms had kidnapped Americans and made them slaves, justifying it under the pretext of RoP. What did Jefferson & company do ? They sent a fighting force across the oceans more than 2 centuries back, thus forming the US Marines.

Remember the Falklands war ? A tiny tiny piece of land of no economic significance invaded by a South American dictatorship. What does Britain under Thatcher do ? Send a force many thousand miles away at immense cost & sacrifice in very difficult conditions to win the war.

I hope I don't need to mention Israel's defiance in it's early days when it punched way above it's weight to counter big nations like Egypt & Syria.

This is what strong & defiant nations do; they are willing to go to war at great cost & sacrifices to defend their land & people.

Of course, we had our opportunities before the nuclear umbrella came along. But then history has shown a nuclear power collapse as well. It's not impossible to defeat Pakistan's ambitions or the local secessionist movement and it must be done.

Dil Dil Pakistan! Bismillah e Rahman-e-Rahim!

India should definitely give up Kashmir. Then slowly all the states north of Deccan one by one. States south of Deccan can form a new country called Dravidistan because Pakistan does not need non-Hindi speaking people. However, Hyderabadi and Mallu Muslims will continue to persecuted in Dravidistan, and ISI will continue to supply terrorists to destabilize those areas. This is what will make Jinnah rise up from his grave and come to life. Inshallah ... Hamdullah ki Kasam!

Again, Dil Dil Pakistan! Salaam from Islamabad.
