So he worst skipper in IPL history apparently.  O hang on does this mean anything lol

O well we will have to console oursleves in him being skipper of world number 1 test team and holder of test mace 2 years on bounce.  Plus first skipper to win test seriers in Aus.

But but IPL captaincy... BOTHERED!lol

It is IPL thread? Opened by an RCB fan. Don't see what the problem is? :hmmmm2: An elite T20 format which should be used to pick T20 squad. 6 years as captain. won nothing.  Even as ODI captain hasn't won any tournament.

How did they let Virat's company Wrogn be a sponsor of the team? No conflict of interest?

Edit: Not sure of conflict of interest, but just seems 'wrong'.

Wrogn is a very cheap brand. (Quality wise). Kohli has failed even here.

I'm not saying he's a good captain, but he made it to the final a few seasons ago...

RCB's big problem was when they bought Mitchell Starc. At that time he was expected to carry the fast bowling attack, but it seemed like half the seasons he was either injured or decided to stay back in Australia to prepare for some random Australian test series. They paid a big price to buy him as well. This wasted a lot of their money when Gayle was actually good and both Kohli and ABD were in good form. If Starc played every season he was supposed to, I'd guess that RCB would have won one by now.

It's hard to replace 145+ KPH yorkers.

how many trophies did RCB win before kohli ? The number tell us kohli is just part of the problem. From 2007 - 2013. That is six years. How many trophies did RCB win ? How many play offs did they make.  playoffs- 3 times and runner up -2. In kohli period playoff - 2 times and runner up - 1. Not much difference. RCB decision making is just not on kohli. It is on the whole management as well.

Before Virat ... Not 2007-20013, but 2008-2012 ... 5 years ... 2 non-playoffs, 3 playoffs (2 finals).

Virat ... 2013-2018 ... 6 years ... 4 non-playoffs, 2 playoffs (1 final).

And the position on table when RCB didn't reach the playoffs ...

Before Virat

2008 - 7/8

2012 - 5/9

Virat

2013 - 5/9

2014 - 7/8

2017 - 8/8

2018 - 6/8

Clearly, by every metric, RCB was much better before Virat's captaincy.

RCB had really one terrible season before Virat's captaincy in the inaugural year of 2008. In every other season they either reached the finals or playoffs or very close to reach playoffs.

Under Virat's captaincy they had 3 terrible seasons out of 6, where they were pretty much out of the tournament half way through. On their way to 4th terrible season out of 7.

I remember Baz having a torrid time as captain of KKR. There was mutiny within the squad due to Dada (?) and the players were not inclined to play for him. Poor guy. :((

Yeah that was the South Africa edition.Dada was a horrible T20 batsman. He was rarely scoring above 100 SR.No wonder SRK & Buchanan came up the ridiculous idea of 4 captains just to keep Dada out of captaincy.

if kohli wins 2019 wc , he will stay as :rcb: kaptaan

He was supposed to be sacked of RCB captaincy before start of this season. I do not know what kind of strings he pulled or why they didnt sack him.

I don't think the winning cup is not that important for RCB owners. It is all the about brand name.

There is no brand without winning trophy. Personal Charisma can last only so long. Look at SRH. They are no name team. Still Gults follow them. Simply because of performance.
