Probably to secure the gps trackers on their bodies - makes sense to ensure that its strapped tight to the player bodies so that it only records movement when the player moves.

Maybe it is a heart fitness monitoring apparatus which is required to be worn tight around the upper chest only. 

Edit: Found some info here. Apparently, this isn't very new and is being used since a few years.

They been using these for past 2-3 years.. they wear it under shirt so may be you have not noticed.. this has sensor that tracks their activities (run and steps) etc to manage players work load.. 

 

Recently i have seen another team using it too.. 

 

But this is the first time i am seeing they are wearing it openly and got pictures with those. Looks funny though..
